Can the country be unified?

Sure, there are multiple ways safe spaces can be used. Ideology is just one of them. (and I'm familiar with CU, my sister went there. Always had a great time when I visited her and this was back when you still had a strong football program. Very popular school with Californians.) But to go back to your original point of why there are people on the right who hold the attitudes they do towards Universities its because they have become more hostile to conservative viewpoints and have become more illiberal.

And stating the obvious holding conservative viewpoints doesn't mean you can't be, or shouldn't be, challenged over them. But as we briefly discussed conservative voices do get shut and shouted down on campuses there days (and more than just crazies like Ann Coulter).

I am very pro-education. I'm a proud Trojan. Being passionate about education I read probably more than I should about the going ons on college campuses and the 'free speech movement' is not alive and well in many places.

It could also be that some conservative viewpoints have become so radical that they don't really deserve a platform. I imagine we would both say the same thing about some viewpoints on the extreme left. The catch for me is this: Is it intolerant to reject intolerance? Yes, it is. Is it justified to be intolerant of intolerance? I think so, but that's a messy game. Alternative viewpoints should always be considered by people who want to grow and learn and think better. I agree that conservative voices are given less volume on most college campuses. A lot of the cancel culture of which I am aware, though, relates to hateful and/or intolerant conservative messaging. I don't know if liberal whack jobs are receiving time and space at universities that conservative whack jobs are not, but I don't really mind both of them being denied entrance. If, however, reasonable conservative speakers are being refused an audience simply because they're conservative, then the echo chamber magnifies and the universities do a disservice to the students who pay them (along with their parents) fortunes of money.

Like I said earlier, I think those people may as well be allowed to speak to an empty auditorium. Preference is the power of consumerism. If conservative students, faculty, and parents caused enough of a stink, though, the service provider (i.e., the school) would bend to their wishes to maintain their profits. So either conservative users of universities don't care enough to form a true counteraction to liberal cancel culture or there are simply fewer conservatives who attend post-secondary institutions. Either way, I simply don't accept that universities exercise carte blanche to silence conservative points of view.

USC is an incredible school that helps develops amazing people. I have a lot of close friends who attended your alma mater. Your burn on my football team hurts but is completely accurate. And these Californian and Texan jerks have been clogging up my hiking paths and roads for decades.

that comment cements the fact you're an idiot......

Yeah. I already told you Trump supporters don't have any standing to identify who is or is not an idiot. But don't let that stop you from being a fake Christian and an unapologetic hypocrite. That's kind of your guys' thing, I guess.

they post as much or more for the rest of us than they do for you.......when I point at something stupid that someone has posted and say "Hey look! Something stupid!", I'm not doing it for your benefit......I am doing it to bring entertainment to those who look for the stupid things people post........I appreciate it when others do the same.......

I see. Well, that isn't what happened in this case. The best Into the Night can do is parse an entire post into four- or five-words fragments and then type "fallacy" after each of them. That isn't for anyone's benefit. That's just an unusual personality tick of someone who has way too much time on his hands.

Agreed. This past week I saw Biden has put immigration reform on his 100 day agenda. I hope it gets passed because the nation needs it.

I don't know how many red or blue states would be interested. I doubt either side would accept a complete makeover.

The (R)s went to a lot of trouble to stack local and state legislatures with Republicans just so that they could gerrymander. One of the first things they did in Missouri was get rid of the district near St. Louis that used to almost always vote Democrat. Our congressman, Russ Carnahan, lost his seat. They rolled part into a neighboring (R) district and the other part into a second neighboring district. The seat has been held by an (R) ever since. So we have a broad swath of (D) voters who will never have representation in the House.

So yeah, I don't see any of them jumping to reform the system, not when it benefits them and disenfranchises us.

Biden didn’t win anything. Come on man. You saw his little get togethers. So gullible

Blessings

There's a pandemic happening. Biden won this election so decisively that there hasn't been a shred of doubt for 23 days. Act like a man and deal with reality.

This was you exactly two posts earlier: "They're [Democrats] violent Nazi-like fascist hyper-conservatives."

The difference is that I'm correct, and also more than happy to have a serious discussion about the New Third Reich Democrats.

Nazi Nutter Trump supporters are, on the other hand, virtually non-existent outside the fevered imaginations of DemoNazis.

The word, you illiterate fuckbag, is Democratic, not Democrat.

Another facet of raging narcissists is their tendency toward concern trolling...

"Look at me! I think the Democrat Party is terrible! That's why I just voted for demented rapist criminal racist Biden! LOOK AT ME!!!"

It's legal to do and several people do it, but I agree with you: I do neither.

Apparently because they don't want to discuss; they want to make proclamations. Therefore, in their minds, no further commentary or discussion is necessary.

They are mentally ill with some form of narcissistic personality disorder that tells them their words, and only their words, come from the one, true God and they are God's prophet. The old term was Messianic complex.

Sounds about right, though this Evince character has literally nothing of value to say.

I love gay grammar nazis. So does Ass Lesion. You two should really hook up!

LOL!

How do you know how many people have been banned from a thread?

It's listed at the top of the thread as it turns out.

Other than an insta-ban on Evince & his trolling nonsense, it's as infantile as putting people on ignore, and then announcing it.

They must first admit fault, beg for forgiveness, kneel and kiss the ring and abandon the gameshow clown and all his plans. Until then
fuck you your mother and the horse she rode in on. It's time to take a pound of flesh, play hardball and exploit every advantage to purge the ignorant
racist deplorable stench from sea to shining sea.

^Another Democrat seeking unity.

WHY can't we have nice things like unity???
