murder rates by country

These comparisons always piss me off.

Part of the reason for our higher murder rates is our culture. That is, in my opinion, far more relevant than our gun laws.

These studies always compare nations, but never take into account the cultural differences.

If you look at businessmen in the USA and in Japan, you see a huge difference in the way they work, look at things, and in the way they see the future.

If you look at the way people in the UK and the USA view things, you will find similarities, but also huge differences.

Depends on the state. The UK rate is particularly high for a European state.

Interestingly, our overall level seems to be dragged up by Scotland and Northern Ireland.

England & Wales seem to be doing far better than most.

What cultural dfferences account for widely divergent murder rates in the USA? The south consistently has some of the highest murder rates. Higher than the north east seaboard which has a much higher population denity. What accounts for this?

America will be near the bottom of the list when guns are taken off the street.

the point is it's shamefull that the US can trail less advanced UK/France and Germany in murder rates.

Maybe it's a symptom of your advanced civilization?

You have perfected the art of killing each other.

Of course the average American does make a much easier target in terms of size and mobility so you could be accused of "cheating", in a strict interpretation of the rules of murder, but i'm going to be magnanimous and not make a fuss about it.

Time to help President Obama and Attorney General Holder do what must be done!
