Who here has already been vaccinated? Who is not planning on getting vaccinated?

The mRNA in the vaccine contains instructions for the proteins that compose those spikes on the surface of the virus. Those are what allows the virus to dock with and invade your cells. Your immune system "sees" those foreign proteins as invaders and creates antibodies for them. Then, if you are invaded by the real thing at a later date, your immune system is primed and ready to go because it will recognize those same proteins. Here's an article if anyone is interested.

So why are those who’ve actually had it are supposedly only temporarily immune?

But for how long and to what strains, did not look that up, did ya, Moose.

What strains will the vax protect you from and for how long?
What makes you think the vax provides more effective antibodies than the actual disease?

So far only one that I know of shows a resistance to the vaccines available and from what I understand they are looking to update the vaccine as needed. Getting herd immunity with every strain would stupid, all it takes is for one strain to be your end. They do not know enough about herd immunity at this time, for some people it may be good for months for others it may be far less and yes there have been cases of people getting it more than once, so much for herd immunity. Now if you want to go with that game plan please feel free, think I will go with the vaccine.

It varies with the strain and the individual.

I get my flu shot every year. It's not a guarantee just like wearing a bullet proof vest isn't a guarantee you won't be shot in the head, but anyone who is stupid enough not to protect themselves should be allowed to remove themselves from the gene pool. I have no sympathy for morons.

Good idea if you are health compromised and never had the Wu Flu. I would too.
Fortunately I do not feel the need to #LiveInFear.:)

What kind of fucking moron thinks taking precautions means they live in fear? That's the same stupid arguments the LW antigunners use: "Oh, you have a gun? You must #LiveInFear"

Flu shots, owning a weapon and fire insurance are all common sense precautions. Obviously common sense isn't very common in all parts of the US.

For those who have been vaccinated, you should have gotten a shot card too, you don't want to lose this card. President Biden said we will have 500 million dosages by the end of the year?!! A reporter asked him what will you do with the excess? Biden said after America is totally vaccinated, he would give the excess to other countries, remember the whole world needs to be vaccinated for herd immunity too?!! If you don't vaccinate the countries the orange buffoon referred to as sh*t-hole countries, there will be new and deadly variants of covid, making our vaccine less effective or even useless?!! The industrial countries need to step up making sure we get this vaccine to all countries!

Would you?

Don't know anyone that lives in fear.
Wish I could show a photo of people in a supermarket in Palmer, Alaska and one of people in a supermarket in Anchorage so you could compare. You’d see what set of folks live in fear.

I think the problem is that those people had spent 15 months doing everything they could to downplay COVID and make it into a hoax, so when they go and get the vaccine it's like...

Trump and Melania made sure they were first in line for treatment. :)

Actually when I “lived” in New Orleans I did live in fear (without realizing it at the time) and did carry . Common sense in that nest of violent crime.
Nowhere else have I felt the need. Don’t even own a weapon now.
I do not fear the WuFlu. For me seasonal flu is far worse. BTW, I no longer get a flu vax. Both years I got it I ended up with debilitating flu anyway.

Yeah...because obviously COVID is worse than the flu, isn't a hoax, and can't be prevented by injecting bleach or shining a lightbulb up your ass.

Agreed. Why Trump said it was and then took the vaccine is a mystery. ;)

Are you now a Lefty Looney running around screaming people who own guns #LiveInFear?

Somewhat.
My position on guns: I’m for the repeal of the Second Amendment. Gun ownership is a responsibility, not a right IMO.
Demonstrate you’re responsible enough to own a deadly weapon and you earn that right. Same as getting a driver’s license.
I’m also pro-death on abortion including after birth abortions up to the age of 18.
Any other questions?

You are stating your opinion as fact. I feel no need for a gun. If I did it would be for fear. Otherwise, I would not submit my family to the increased peril that a gun represents.
