Sotomayor quits women's club after GOP criticism

WASHINGTON – Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor resigned Friday from an elite all-women's club after Republicans questioned her participation in it. Sotomayor said she resigned from the Belizean Grove to prevent the issue from becoming a distraction in her confirmation hearings.

translation:

critics have a point, about sotomayor's membership in that club. so sotomayor will quit that club as obviously it is stupid and being on the bench is like way more important than keeping one's values....and let's blame it on the....hmmmm....the GOP, yeah, yes, everyone supposedly hates them, so let'sl blame it on them, they "forced" her to quit.....

She sounds a lot like the whining Obama.

smart move. makes the club a non-issue for the hearings...and subtly alienates women towards the GOP...I mean, is there a bigger symbol of a damned near men-only club than the GOP senate caucus?

LOL lemme get this straight. There was nothing wrong with her being in the club, AND resigning was only because she wanted to diffuse criticism for something that was perfectly fine. I think I get this liberal stuff now. You just apply the inverse

uh.....those secret clubs get you real jobs and real money

sillycitizen wouldn't understand, but damo, you, i know you understand the importance of clubs, especially powerful clubs like sotomayor belonged to that represented what......solely women and you know many clubs represent the elite and provide help in jobs. else why the club.....

people can mock the "club of white old guys" that allegedly control everything. however, that is outright hypocrisy, especially if it is used to justify a non white/non guy/etc....club

correct it is hypocracy if it is used to justify another childish club.
and yes the clubs can get you jobs term papers, etc...

But shouldn't you really earn those things on your own?
To learn more of what life is about vs hanging out in an exclusive club in protected isolation from full reality?

“...the federal appeals court judge said she is convinced that the club does not practice “invidious discrimination” and that her membership in it did not violate judicial ethics.”

If this is true then why quit? Because you are a phony and a hypocrite much like your politically correct party.

Umm, she might be a bit busy to participate? I doubt that is the reason, but a valid one. I expect that she paid too much attention to the right wheel lugnutz.
It is better if you just ignore them.

good point

good point

can you imagine where being a member of this club might not be THAT freaking important in her life? Nowhere near as important as realizing her goal of being a member of SCOTUS?

SHe resigns from this club and that is one less thing that the desperate republicans have to whine about...

she gets confirmed and then, if she has the time and the inclination, she rejoins. I am sure they would allow her back in, aren't you?

failed logic! If there is nothing wrong with the club, why would critcisms about the club by political enemies have any traction?

not failed at all... if the right is going to make a big deal about it, take the issue off the table...then, after you are confirmed, rejoin the club.
