45% now trust the GOP more

You're grasping at straws. I voted Republican for over 20 years and right now the Republican party has the dubious reputation of being able to foul up a wet dream and if you don't believe that then just throw down an election because that's a Pepsi challenge I'm willing to take. I think Republicans would be handed their heads again, that is, unless they reach out for help......but that's not going to come from the far right.

I am not grasping at anything...the numbers are the numbers dude.

the stalker doesn't know what a question is....moron

are you suggesting that the trendline from October until now does not indicate a steadily improving sense of where the country is headed? It started before the election when less than 10% of Americans thought dubya was taking us in the right direction, and that number has improved by nearly 500% since then....

look at the trend NOW you dishonest hack....it clearly shows people are NOW thinking worse of the direction of the country than just a few weeks ago...

why don't you try being honest and actually looking at the chart

if you think that a week or two changes the trend from October, you really don't understand trendlines...

if it went up by two percent tomorrow, would you then claim that the trend showed a dramatic improvement?

people are tired of govt and want whatever they can get back at this point.
I'd say that's an exageration. I do pay a lot in taxes but I see a lot of pay back on that in terms of transportation, communications, information, security, blah, blah, blah, that I see a lot of value from the government services for my tax dollars. I also see a lot of abuse and mismanagement, but still, I get a lot of value for my tax dollars. Particularly compared to other governments of the world. Would any of you want to trade your government for another?

The question for all of us is, how much are we collectively willing to pay for those government services and who has the money and how much they shall pay and what kind of services we need and want and how much we can afford to pay for them, ad nuseum. I'd say compared to the rest of the industrialized world and considering our great wealth, taxes and our system of taxation are very reasonable, across the board in the USA.

you lying sack of meadowmuffins, where did i ever claim it was worse than 8 months ago.... i merely pointed out that NOW <-- the trend shows it is gettign worse

you obviously haven't a clue about reality and the truth

where did i say what he claimed....:pke:

and you too are wrong, "most" americans do NOT support the stimulus, the numbers have been dropping since february
Well isn't that about like regretting you just spent the money you couldn't afford on a shopping trip? It's not "stimulus" it is "stimulate" because we done stimulated (i.e. we spent the money all ready.) or at least most of it.

Further proof that the general populace have a very short memory and are mostly stupit.

I've always taken Rasmussen with a grain of salt.

Rasmussen and Party ID - Part I

And speaking of putting the results of the new "automated" surveys under a microscope, we have some new data this week on party identification from automated pollster Scott Rasmussen. These data provide us with another opportunity to compare Rasmussen's results to those from other pollsters. While Rasmussen is certainly not an outlier in terms of party identification, there are subtle differences that suggest his polls reach a slightly more partisan universe than other surveys of American adults.

the TREND from eight months shows an overall positive movement. one or two weeks worth of static in the data does not a trend make.

What do YOU attribute the overall positive trend from the past eight months to?

posted this like 3-4 weeks ago. It's pretty interesting how voters trust republicans on 6 out of 10 key issues, including the economy and getting rid of corruption in government.

The phrasing of questions is a big contributor to the results of a survey.

Well then lets do it. Lets have the election now. I'm voting democrat and I'm willing to take the pepsi-challenge on that Dems would gain large margins.

It's very funny you've mentioned this. The trend you are noticing is because he often polls LIKELY VOTERS, you know, the people that actually determine elections. Polls of AMERICANS tread more liberal, because such polls involve the demographics of those such that may be of the working class and not voting on election day, or people disinterested in politics to begin with to not be informed enough on the issues.

For some reason stupidity suits you :)

hey maineman how do you feel about republicans being trusted more on the economy, more on ethics, (both the number 1 and 2 issues in america right now) as well as 4 other issues that are cited as most important by the voters? Does it make you feel good? If so, how good? Does it bother you that after a few short months of obama being in office after what many would call a disater presidency for republicans, the republicans are once again trusted on MORE important issues than democrats? Does that sting at all? Just wondering . ..
