But Franken is a centrist and there will be lots of times he'll be on your side.

I'm not trying to compare Franken and O'Reily I was just responding more in general to the idea of a politician being 'respected' regardless of who it is and what party they are in. Yes they have lots of power no denying that. But 'respected'? Maybe its just my low opinion of politicans as a whole that blinds my view but I'm not feeling it.

The Ohio Republican Party sent this photo out today in a news release criticizing Rep. Sherrod Brown for enlisting the help of comedian and Air America talk show host Al Franken. Franken plans to rally Democratic supporters tonight during a conference call to various house parties in Brown's U.S. Senate race against Republican Sen. Mike DeWine. Franken stumped for Brown earlier this month in Akron.

Ohio GOP spokesman John McClelland said, "It is not surprising that Sherrod Brown is enlisting the help of a Hollywood liberal, who like him, is so far out of the mainstream of Ohio values. What is troubling is that Brown would solicit support from someone who compared conservatives to Nazis 'who should drink poison and die,'" quoting a book by Bernard Goldberg.

UPDATE: Andy Barr, director of Al Franken's Midwest Values Political Action Committee, said, "The picture is a fake. . . Both the photograph and the quote are particularly hacky works of pure fiction. No wonder Sherrod's up by so much" in recent public-opinion polls.

First, is Air America still around? I thought after they robbed the Boy's & Girls Club they finally got shut down and the rats jumped ship.

Second, since when is being a senator from Minnesota a respected position? I think Bill has more viewers/listeners per day than the state of Minnesota, and I am sure Bill O'Reilly pull's in a bigger paycheck than Al ever did or will.

yes, it took more than one court fight, but did not make it to the supremes AND he got the popular vote...

Yes he was selected. If you don't like it, well tough shit. This was the precedent that was established by Gore vs Bush SCOTUS decision that handed Bush the presidency when it was clear that this was against the will of the majority of the American people. The conservative majority on the Supreme Court, in a partisan decision, selected George W. Bush as our 43rd President, so if you don't like Franken being "selected" you have them to thank for it.

It has been 8 months since the election, there have been several hearings and in EVER instance the courts have said franken won. This is how this differs from Bush v Gore
