Senator Al Franken!

Actually, you have consistently created caricatures of my arguments and tried to debate them, and I have called you on that consistently.

I make fun of many of your points, yes. I exaggerate the points I select and make fun of them. Its not an uncommon political tactic. And it is something I have seen you do as well.

But when you have done things like that I do not end the argument and start whining. I correct your exaggeration and make my point again. Oh, but I guess that would mean you would have to have a point to begin with.

I understand all too well why you do what you do.

so Portia di Rossi is ugly?

Maineman, in case you have missed the fun, Southernman has a new way to debate. He insists that lesbians are ugly. When you point out that there are plenty of attractive lesbians he moves on to "think how great they would be if they were straight".

So he contradicts his own argument and refers back to it again later. This way he can agree that there are attractive lesbians and not admit that he was wrong when he said that all lesbians are ugly. (god made them ulgy, you see)

Refreshing that you admit to using Straw Man, a logical fallacy, which means that you admit defeat.

For extra point deductions now you can fail to show where I have done the same in a serious debate. *shrug*

You did when you were Solitary. The Southern Man never forgets. *shrug*

If I were Solitary then you would have something to remember. You might remember Solitary insulting your family. But you do not remember me insulting your family.

But since you are an invented personality, a fictional character, your family would not actually exist.

In a serious debate? Interesting qualifier. If I find one you will insist it was not a serious debate.

Also, I did not admit to the Straw Man issue you have. I admitted to making a caricature of your arguments. I exxagerate certain parts of your arguments and make fun of them.

If it weren't so easy to do I might not.

Making a caricature of an argument is the definition of making a Straw Man, Einstein. *shrug*

Making a caricature of an argument is the definition of making a Straw Man, Einstein. *shrug*

A caricature is exaggeration by means of often ludicrous distortion of parts or characteristics. And it is obviously ridiculous.

A strawman is a weak or imaginary opposition (as an argument or adversary) set up only to be easily confuted.

(both of those definitions are from Mirriam Webster at http://www.merriam-webster.com/

And there is a difference between a strawman and a caricature. And so Einstein perhaps you would like to retract your comments about me not know what "caricature" meant?

When discussing logical fallacies, an intelligent person would argue based on authoritative definitions:

Straw man. This is the fallacy of refuting a caricatured or extreme version of somebody's argument, rather than the actual argument they've made.

You are so PWNED *shrug*
