Agreed on reacted. The plan would be simple; the four hijackers took the cockpit and some or all of the 18 male passengers would force their way into the cockpit to retake it. The flight data and cockpit voice recorders, plus phone calls, told the tale.

They knew that they were dead. They had nothing to lose.

What we all forget is that everyone assumed that the first two groups of hijackers would simply have a list of demands. As every hijacker in history had.

It didn't work out that way. Flight 93 passengers had already spoken with loved ones, and knew that WTC/Pentagon was attacked.

Thanks for the link. I see she included the clean version of Shepard's Prayer....as in Alan B. Rear Admiral, USN and astronaut.

I also see the reporter hyped it with the "suicide mission" bullshit when the reality was enough: they planned to ram the airliner in flight. Risky, but survival...maybe even flyable afterward.

Orders had come from Vice President Dick Cheney for her squadron to get airborne and stop Flight 93 from reaching Washington D.C. Penney and her squadron leader, Mark (“Sass”) Sasseville, were to launch first. With no live missiles on board, they had nothing but their aircraft to use as a weapon. It would take upwards of an hour to assemble and load the missiles on to a jet. Another pair of F-16s would stay until missiles could be loaded, but Penney and Sasseville were to take off immediately.

“I’m zipping up my G-suit when Sass looks at me and says, ‘I’ll take the cockpit.’ [Meaning that he would ram into Flight 93’s front end.] I would take the tail,” she said. “I’ve had people ask me, ‘Who told you would have to ram the airplane? Who ordered you?’ But no one did. What was said was all that was said.”

They certainly knew they were dead if they didn't try. Literally, die trying.

Accident reconstruction alone would have shown a great difference between a plane that was hit by a missile, and one that was flown into the ground or crashed into the ground due to pilot action/inaction. You can't have a team of forensic investigators of only one or two people. Someone would have blabbed had there been evidence of explosives on debris, or merely in the scatter pattern.

Agreed on all points. Another factor in a shoot down would be parts and pieces littering the landscape. UAL93 dove into the ground intact until impact.

None whatsoever. But nobody was allowed near the wreckage. There is no proof to be had.
Everybody on the ground by that time knew the plane was heading for the capitol.

Shooting it down was the only other option to letting it hit the capitol.
Even if the passengers planned a move, the military wouldn't count on that.

Plus, as everybody knows, I'm more cynic than true believer.
Life took my innocence about America the Beautiful and reduced it microscopic dust when I was a very young man.
And I'm a quick learner. I wasn't fooled the first time, never mind the subsequent times.

They never had to, as the plane took a dive as they got there.

The phones tell the story. Either way, it does not matter. I support the passengers last ditch effort, and I support the US government striking down and
killing US civilians in a jet headed for the capitol or white house in this circumstance.

Same as I support the us shooting that bitch that Trump sent to stop my vote at the US capitol on 1-6.

The hypothetical scenario is a no brainer. Dead on a vacant field or dead on the white house? What's your choice?
