Most expect jobs to take awhile, unfortunately; it will probably be a few years before we see something in the range of a 5% unemployment rate again.

That said, they do expect job growth in sectors like healthcare and education. Innovation in other industries is not easy to predict or plan, but there is investment on those fronts that will hopefully lead to more general job creation.

Most think innovation is the way to go.
Innovation in the finiancial markets largely created this recession.
More of the same is not what we need.

True. Its a conundrum.

I think where Obama fucked up is that he didn't have the balls to fundamentally reform the banking system, and his stimulus bill wasn't nearly big enough or focused enough on public works projects which would create self-sustaining jobs into the future.

But its not too late. Hopefully, some fundamental changes will untimately be made, and hopefully Obama will stop listening to Neoliberal hacks like Summers.

stimulus hasn't been spent yet, but I agree Obama lacks balls.
especially on the racism of prohibition.

I can't blame him too much for not taking on legalization yet; even though it has popular support, it's still a fairly controversial position that he'd get shredded for pushing right now, and it would undermine other initiatives.

hence the no balls, most dems support it. Yes he is afraid of the prohibitionis/religious zealots. That also equals selling out your base.

I agree. It is not an issue he can afford to take on right now given the backlash he is seeing on the cap and trade fiasco and the speed with which he is trying to push the healthcare through.

Yeah another 800,000 mostly minority's in prison is not important to Obama. LOFL

It's politics, tops. There is guts, and there is intelligence.

If he tries to ram through legalization now, with everything else going on, chances are excellent that he'll not only lose that fight, but other initiatives he is currently pushing for. It's a lose-lose; timing is everything, and on an issue like that, you have got to lay groundwork.

That said, I'd be extremely disappointed if he didn't take it up sometime in the next few years...

Hillarycare is going down just like last time, Cap and scheme is going down.
the messiah is staring down two terrible defeats.
He could have made a huge fucking civil rights leap, instead he has his thumb up his ass.

Basic rights like healthcare and cap and trade are far more important than pot legalization. And Obama has never proposed to support the legalization of pot anyway. It's not something that was reasonable to expect from him; at best, you could hope he wouldn't enforce it as badly.

we have the best healthcare in the world, cap and trade is a shceme. He said he supported decrim. Again nobody is in jail over healthcare and cap and scheem.
800,000 that's annually go to jail for a fucking natural herb.

Bullshit people do fly to the other 37 countries for the best procedures you tool.
Right to life,
multiply everything we are trying to do and China & India's new pollution quadruple it in pollution.
