Wouldn't it make more sense to compare Jackson to Chicago? We don't have any other serious metropolitan areas, and Jackson even really doesn't compare to Chicago. It's not fair to compare crime rates of an urban area to a rural area.

Chicago obviously dominates Illinois's population, but the suburban and rural areas obviously have such low murder rates that the manage to counterbalance that. Without CC.

They do have rural open carry, but that obviously isn't used much because it's tacky.
 
East Central KY. Rural as heck.

As I said open carry is tacky, easy to get a concealed permit. You get less strange looks that way and people will be friendly with you.

I carry my .45 on the farm usually. Heck my tractor might break a wheel and I would have to put it out of it's misery.

even excluding chicago.

roughly 9 million people, leaves 317 murders to account for outside chicago.

3 times the population and nearly 1/3rd less murders.

Besides I have to worry about those Jehovas witnesses that stuck those loony phamplets in my door.

The "lowest crime rate around"? I love conservative statistics. It's like normal statistics class, except retarded.

The law was never enforced and the decline in crime was consistent with the area overall.

That town is about 10 miles NW of Atlanta,if that far, the crime rate is pretty bad in Atlanta, go 15 miles NW of Atlanta hit the next town and the crime is higher, wow pretty retarded! At 1 time Marrietta had the lowest crime rate in GA, I believe it still does even though it is right next to Atlanta

Think about it, if you wanted to rob someone would ya go to a place that everyone owned a gun? Or would ya take your chances elsewhere ?

Well actually I should have clarified that I was talking about may-issue vs. shall-issue.

It's obviously impossible to do an effective comparison of the states now that there are 2 vs. 48, although if you include Canada and other countries the statistics would be favorable (although I'm certain you would object to that).

Marrietta is more urban than towns further out but has less crime, do the math
