Here's the battle.
The virus wins by spreading.
For we humans, the challenge is to reduce transmission of the disease as much as possible. To do this, we need to avoid sharing air with someone who is contagious. Anybody could be contagious and not even know it. This means we should avoid sharing air with anyone outside your immediate regular family or group.
And get vaccinated.
Vaccinated people don't get as sick as an unvaccinated person. The contagious condition doesn't last as long. Since the unvaccinated get sicker, and they stay sick longer, they are able to spread the disease for more days than the vaccinated person. And to more people.
The best thing to do is simply avoid inhaling any air where someone else has exhaled. Stay away from other humans. Keep your distance. Wear a mask indoors and in crowded situations if you can't keep away.
The challenge is simply to avoid sharing air. That's what all the distancing and masks are about. Trying to avoid sharing air. Sharing air is how the disease infects new hosts.
We do all those things and we get vaccinated because that is the best we can do to fight the pandemic. And those tools are effective. If nobody shared any air with anyone else the disease would be shut down, unable to find new hosts.
But that's not possible; so we have to do the best that we can. We must act together, in a coordinated way, to produce the best result.
And that will save lives. We do this for America, for the world. It is the right thing to do.
