Diversity Makes Greatness
Hello ziggy,
First time I ever listened to him.
Now I can see why he is so popular. He comes off like a reasonable guy. The problem is, he is really a slick talking con man.
I didn't have to listen very long to determine that. At timestamp 1:18, Rogan claims that because he had two guests on his podcast, the podcast was labelled misleading. I don't think that is true. I think it is because of what they said, and because of what Rogan has said, and because he has selectively only put out the information which supports refusing to comply with precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Basically, he is reinforcing all the reasons people use to refuse to comply with the government recommended COVID safety precautions.
Then, about timestamp 1:35, he attempts to establish that since the science and understanding around the coronavirus pandemic have evolved, this means it isn't credible. That is disingenuous. Science is constantly being updated with newer information. That doesn't mean science is BS. All that means is our understanding of things gets better in time.
He falsely claimed that 8 months ago if he said that vaccinated people could catch and spread COVID he would be banned and removed from social media. No, that is not true. None of the vaccines were ever claimed to be 100% effective. The efficacy rates were published from the beginning, and none of them were 100%.
Also, when the vaccines were first given EUA, there was not enough data to know how long the immunity would last. Only after additional data became available was it learned the rate of diminishing effectiveness. Rogan takes advantage of this by pretending not to know it and acting like the science surrounding it should never change. That's ridiculous, because science would not be science if it never changed. Only through change are scientific advancements made.
Then he talks about masks as if they were a light switch. Apparently, in Rogan's world, masks either work, or they don't work. No other options, such as partial effectiveness. That is absurd. In the real world they do actually reduce the spread of exhaled air and virus particles. Cloth masks are the least effective, surgical masks are much better, and properly fitting N95 masks work the best.
It is easy to spot what Rogan is doing. He is telling skeptics what they want to hear, and finding ways to make it sound reasonable.
It is indeed dangerous misinformation.
Kudos to Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Nils Lofgren for standing up to this nonsense.
Rogan is social poison. He's making a bunch of money to spread dangerous rumors. It's getting people killed and he doesn't care.
