I don't really understand this. What is this attitude that is so prevalent in our country? Tucker Carlson rants that you should confront people wearing masks and tell them to remove them because they are making you uncomfortable. He told people to call the police if they see a child wearing a mask. This is DeSantis playing to that same segment by being nasty to students who were wearing masks. I never really got this. Like, mind your own beeswax. Who cares?
There are no f'ing lockdowns, and haven't been since Trump was President. And those were called for since this was a novel virus and we didn't really know much about it. In 2021 in NY at least, the indoor mask mandates were dropped. I went out all the time! Then we had the Omnicron wave, and they were put back in effect. Now they have been dropped again, because that wave passed. This makes sense to me. If there's another wave, we will have indoor mask mandates again.
In the interim, there are people who are still going to wear masks. How is this your business?? As far as I'm concerned, now that the vaccine has long been widely available, and FREE, you can go about your business. The willfully unvaccinated will continue do die, survive and then drop 3 months later from cardiac arrest, get long covid, and many of them will get it and be just fine. It's Russian roulette and I'm fine with them playing it. I encourage them to go for it.
The immunocompromised are fucked, and I doubt their lives will ever be the same. I feel so badly for them. Funny thing about that, one day you're not immunocompromised, and then oops! you get that bad test result, it's cancer, and now you are. So you run your ass out to get vaccinated, but uh-oh, there's still your former comrades running around umasked, unvaxxed, and in most cases, unwashed. Sucks for you.
In the meantime, why do you care if someone else is wearing a mask? They may be immunocompromised, you don't know. They may live with someone who is. They may love someone who is. How is this your business? I really think half this country went freaking nuts, just absolutely crazy, and they're not coming back. They all need a really good psychiatrist, but mental health funding in this country is just a damn shame. So we all have to watch them play out their various psychosis in public. Such weirdos.
