The Republican Dilemma.

This is their problem... I think they are going to have to go with a "Trump lite" if they want to win in 2024, someone willing to throw a little shade, but mostly logical and with sound logic instead of just insults.

My brother is an interesting case. He is a Republican, has been his entire life, sort of hard core about it. Went to High School the first year it was segregated and it was difficult, the animosity against the races was bad on both sides. He's pro-Choice when pressed. Against women's lib, thinks its "unnatural" but his wife works. He's an accountant and wants low taxes. Hated Trump during the primary, called him a crook and a mentally ill trust fund baby. Once Trump was the nominee, he was SO pro-Trump all the way, but it was mostly because of his hatred for Hillary. In the end all arguments came back to but.. But... But... Hillary. He voted for Trump the first time, and stayed home the second time. He's vaccinated and wore a mask because he is not "dumb as shit", his words.

I think he is the alienated Republican, the Reluctant Trumpper.

Republicans have given up on a 'Platform' and just demonize Democrats. Rather than present Policies like Health Care, Relations with China, Poverty, they have just went with the Trump-style 'criticize your opponent'. All you here now is 'Biden is Weak'. That seems to be their Strategy.

That's because in 40 years of Conservatism, it hasn't once produced a single policy that has made life better for anyone other than the 1%.

Elaborate? How so? I always liked Biden ok, he is a standard Democrat, very moderate but certainty not a conservative. I like Democrats, prefer they would be more liberal, but as long as they are sane, I always vote for the more liberal candidate.

In the end, my brother stayed home because he had to admit to himself Trump was not sane, or particularly conservative.

yes........as I stated before, MILLIONS were 'anyone but trump'. so much so, that after 5 years of bitching about being ruled by old white men, they voted for an old white man...because 'TRUMP!!!!!!!!!'

That worked with HILLARY because there was so much hate, and she fought back on his field.

Biden showed that the way to beat that is to lay low, and not respond. Put forward a policy argument and don't take the bait.
