Texas grid fails yet again

The right can not be trusted to run government assisted systems

They hate everything Government

So they treat it all with contempt

Republicans say government doesn’t work

Then prove that when they get elected

May is typically a very mild month in Texas so power companies go offline to do yearly preventative maintenance. That maintenance is scheduled far in advance. So the record breaking heat, at a time when maintenance is being preformed ,is putting an unusual load on the grid and we are asked to conserve as an abundance of caution. Electrical service has not been interrupted there have been no rolling blackouts like in California. California’s federally regulated grid is suffering rolling blackouts . They are generating like crazy out of Lake Mead and wonder why the lake is so low. go figure?

They have asked us to shut our lights off at night. It’s hotter than normal this time of year, it’s going to be a long summer, but we just got our generator hooked up!

I'm so glad you got that installed. It's dangerous at any age to be w/o cooling, but worse for us geezers. Stay cool!

It’s get cold

The grid fails

It gets hot

The grid fails

Only in Texas. Our grid doesn't go down in peak periods. It only goes down when the wind blows too hard because Washington people haven't figured out how to bury cables yet.

I was just in San Antonio a few days ago. It was about 85 every day and the sun didn't come out until last Friday, the last day I was there. You must be referring to South TX by the coast and border?

At least CA's Senators don't pack up and leave the state when times get tough like Cancun Ted.

The drought is a real problem my friend. I used to run several campgrounds nationally including CA. When you run lakeside campgrounds and people can't launch their boats, it hurts your occupancy.

I remember when TX had a drought. One of my managers drove in his jeep along to bottom of Lake Conroe - it was bizzare!

It’s hot in Texas

So the grid fails yet again

6 of their electricity plants fail at once

Right wing idiots can’t run things

Why do idiots love their failure?

Read the articles you post. The grid didn't "fail." A power company simply asked customers to conserve because they took six plants offline for some reason.

Now, on the other hand, California is expecting blackouts to happen during the summer months and the state has already officially said they expect a 1,800 MW shortage in generation capacity as a major cause. This shortage is due entirely to that state's energy policy of going Green. Solar and wind simply cannot make up for the losses in nuclear and fossil fuel plant closings the state has forced on power companies.

Another problem in California is their neglect to increase reservoir capacity by enlarging existing dams and building new ones. This is resulting in a loss of hydroelectric generation because of massive water shortages the state is now facing. Again, this is entirely due to Greentard government policies.

So, while one power company in Texas asks customers to cut back on usage because some of their plants are undergoing maintenance, in California Leftist, Democrat governance is burning the state down quite literally.

May temps in Texas run from the mid 80's to the low 90's, more proof that you never know what you are talking about. Its make believe 24/7.

Although a desired effect of competition is to lower electricity rates, the residential rate for electricity increased seven times in the four years after deregulation. Nationwide data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration[8] shows that Texas's electric prices did rise above the national average immediately after deregulation from 2003 to 2009, but from 2010 to 2015, prices dropped significantly below the national average price, with a total cost of $0.0863 per kWh in Texas in 2015 vs. $0.1042 nationally, or 17 percent lower in Texas. Between 2002 and 2014 the total cost to Texas consumers is estimated to be $24 billion, an average of $5,100 per household more than comparable markets under state regulation.[9]

California is actually the most expensive state in the US when it comes to electricity, even higher than Alaska and Hawaii, which leaves many individuals scratching their heads. In fact, there is really no ultimate reason as to why California should be so expensive.

California’s electricity prices are among the highest in the country, new research says, and those costs are falling disproportionately on a customer base that’s already struggling to pay their bills.

PG&E customers pay about 80% more per kilowatt-hour than the national average, according to a study by the energy institute at UC Berkeley’s Haas Business School with the nonprofit think tank Next 10. The study analyzed the rates of the state’s three largest investor-owned utilities and found that Southern California Edison charged 45% more than the national average, while San Diego Gas & Electric charged double. Even low-income residents enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy program paid more than the average American.
