Looks to me like obstructionist is the perfect description for the GOP's tactics, according to the dictionary's definition. Also, it is not "factually false" that the GOP has been totally defeated. It may very well be true that the party's self-inflicted wounds are mortal, and the next couple of elections will tell us if they are or not, but at t his point it is a matter of opinion whether the GOP has been totally defeated, and certainly not "factually false." The total defeat of an adversary does not require that you wipe him out to the last man, only that you end his ability to ever defeat you in the future. If the GOP falls from a national party to a regional one, and never again holds a majority in either house of congress, i can be fairly said to have been totally defeated as a national party, and I see nothing from the GOP at this point to indicate that they have the wherewithal to re-emerge as a national party, either in terms of fresh ideas ("no" is hardly an idea), or visionary leadership, or even a statesman like Howard Baker or Barry Goldwater, both of whom could be depended upon to put country ahead of party. As long as they continue to cater to the right wing, I think the voters will stay away from them. I could be wrong, and only time will tell, but I don't see anything positive in the GOP that convinces me they will ever be back to their prior power, because their core philosophy was an utter failure in its application.

DNC may have jumped the gun with his opinion, but his opinion certainly isn't stupid or factually false, and neither is his usage of "obstructionist."

you need numbers to be able to obstruct....so no, the GOP is not defeated and i believe their poll numbers are actually rising and not all gop elections were lost and i never said anything about his "use" of obstructionist....

dems are so facking hypocritical on this subject it is laughable....when you guys tried to block republican bills, it was patriotic....now....hypocrites

Then when the GOP was whining about the dems being obstructionist during the first six years of the Bush administration to thew p;oint of taking "the nuclear option" of banning filibusters because of the obstructionist, unpatriotic, terrorist sympathizers in the "Democrat Party," they were also misusing the term obstructionist. BTW, now that they are the ones threatening to filibuster, now it's okay again? You can't have it both ways. Pick one and stick with it. The GOP changes positions 180 degrees and condemns amendments written by republicans. And you have the gall to call somebody else hypocritical? The GOP has raised hypocrisy to an art form. The DEms can be hypocriticall too, but NOTHING the Dems do or say is in the ballpark, or even in the parking lot of the perverts, philanderers, and holier-than-thou johns of the GOP touting family values. Hypocrisy? THE GOP OWNS THE COPYRIGHT.

exactly....your avi for this "minute" as you've changed about 6 avi's today....is the same one a troll had on another board i was at cap'n

could have been this board though, i tend to post predominantly on one board at a time.....and lately, i like this board best....though, has become rather droll.....during the h/c debates postes like ib1 really stepped up and made this board awesome
