US military forces 'fully prepared' to cross into Ukraine

Putin wasnt asking for LAND. he was asking for his "redlines" to be respected
Biden told his to fuckoff -according to you knowing there was an invasion in the plans.

See if you can put 2 and 2 together -i doubt it-as long as the USA is warring agianst Russia
that's all you seem to want,as did Biden Inc

Bullshit. It's extraordinary you still cling to the lie this was supposedly all about NATO.

This is a war of Russian imperialism.

Putin ended up meekly accepting Finland's ascension into NATO, even though they are right on the doorstep of Saint Petersburg, Vlad's hometown

Putin planned this invasion years ago, and has had designs on Ukraine for three decades.

Putin has openly declared that Ukraine is an illegitimate country, and it belongs to Russia because of the 1654 Pereyaslav agreement. He hasn't even tried to hide his imperialist agenda.

It's a nasty war. I never supported the invasion because of the factors you list...

You were never shy about putting all the blame on the US, the West and NATO.

Example:
NATO expansion is an aggressive posture. It's like putting your chess pieces in opponents territory.
Placement and the number of pieces there constitute aggressive posture

Ukraine was ultimately going to get NATO membership. no question of if, just when
And NATO isn't sitting there passively - they ran warships at Crimea restricted waters
bombers along the Russia coast; in fact Lavrov specifically detailed a laundry list of "redlines"
hand delivered by Lavrov to Blinken. Blinken/Biden laughed them off as insignificant .
Putin obviously thought the were and went to war over NATO shenanigans and uber-expansion.
Ukraine was becoming a NATO outpost - intolerable to Russian security red lines

if my chess pieces are around my king, they are on defense, If my pieces are on your side of the board
they become "aggressive". NATO expansion into border states with Russia is an aggressive posture.

I keep hearing this Russian Imperium is what drives Putin - he may want to be another Catherine the Great
( who said Russia must expand or die) but that's not what drives him.

Ukraine is unique in that it's closely ties to Russia (language/Slavic).
But mostly since we decided to make Ukraine a defacto NATO state, that was a step too far from the west

NATO is in Europe...as all Americans know.

I wonder if war has changed any since 1904......

I would say a difference here is that Russia has already declared that the land they occupy in Ukraine is Russian soil.....I don't believe they ever did that in Japan.....

I already gave you an example from 1988, the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan.

How many examples do you need? The North Vietnamese defeated us in 1973, never having set foot on American soil. We defeated Iraq in 1991 even though we never drove onto to Baghdad or occupied their country. Argentina backed down to Great Britain in 1982, even though not one British soldier set foot on Argentinian soil. The Algerians defeated the French in the 1960s without ever having occupied a square inch of France. We defeated Spain in 1898 without ever having occupied a square millimeter of Spain.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make......unlike Iraq, Argentina, or Algeria,I doubt we could fight Russian troops in Ukraine and not have to fight in Russia......

You are trying to retroactively modify, edit, change the point you wrote in the original post. I can only respond to the words you type. You didn't say there was a possibility NATO might have to bomb a naval base at Rostov-on-Don, or that we might blow up a supply depot across the border in Belgorod.

You suggested we would have to occupy the nation of Russia, and nation-build there for 20 years.

it would be another Iraq......we could defeat the Russian army in a few hours, remove their tyrant leader, and then spend years and trillions trying to turn the country into a civilized nation only to leave 20 years later and watch it all collapse.......

I can't have a discussion with you if you don't actually mean what you type.

oh fun! so you like playing nuclear chicken?? what could go wrong? :palm:

The only one threatening nukes is your hero, the notorious Russian war criminal Vlad Putin. But inexplicably, you never offer even the most tepid criticism of him.

you haven't answered the key question.......do you think Putin would back down if we liberated the parts of Ukraine he has stolen?.....

Yes.

absolute trash.
why after all these years of Putin making that same speech ( he started the "Russian Imperium" noise around 2002) did he suddenly decide to invade?

Because he saw Biden come in -after being unable to negotiate with Trump because of the Russian Hoax-
and knew Biden Inc has a bunch of neocons like Nuland and Rice and Sullivan in power.
So obviously Ukraine was going to get it's NATO status, but in the meantime Ukraine was getting lots of offensive weapons. Not to mention the basic rejection of his redlines

Meaning his window to deal with Ukraine was closing, neutrality was out of the question since the Maidan
and he did what he had to do to neutralize NATO expansion into Ukraine

Finland already had a robust defense, and Sweden isn't even on the radar.
Those becoming NATO arent a big deal to Russia like Ukraine is

Ukraine is strategicially important to Russia, it's east is Russian by all measures
so it was now or never -unless he could see some diplomatic progress ( the Lavrov letters) -
and they were blown off by Biden

You want me to criticize the invasion?
I have. I understand the predicate, but the invasion has had terrible effects on civilians.
I've said many times i'd be fine with annexing Donbas. but not this invasion west of the Dnieper

Your turn to critique NATO expansion into eastern Europe. I bet you wont

"If" is another situation. We haven't.

If China attacks Taiwan should the U. S. act? Why is it in our national interest any more than Ukraine.?
Because Taiwan is a keystone to the western Pacific archipelago, and we have strategic interests in Taiwan
-also the semiconductors
Ukraine can go full Russian and it makes no difference to the USA -nothing there is in our interest to war over
