I don't recall any of the neocon puppets from the AOL boards wailing in protest over that...yet they're up in arms because Obama's people got lab coats for the doctors at that recent advocate press op for health care. Gee, making sure all the physicians had their lab coats so folks knew they were legit as opposed to a cardboard cut out of a turkey for the troops. I wonder which is worse? :rolleyes:

1. If the turkey was NOT for eating, then why pick it up and glad hand/goof around with it...and then let your PR people push it off as the President actually bringing out the holiday turkey to be served and eaten....which it wasn't and he surely wasn't?

2. Please explain what is wrong with giving out lab coats to DOCTORS who were showing up for a promotional photo op of a health care proposal THEY APPROVED OF? Wouldn't neocon parrots and pundits immediately wail that they weren't doctors?

The Thanksgiving turkey President Bush hoisted in Baghdad, Iraq, thrilled troops but doesn’t go down easy with critics.


WASHINGTON — President Bush's Baghdad turkey was for looking, not for eating.

In the most widely published image from his Thanksgiving Day trip to Baghdad, the beaming president is wearing an Army workout jacket and surrounded by soldiers as he cradles a platter with a golden-brown turkey.

The bird looks perfect, with bunches of grapes and other trimmings completing a Norman Rockwell image that evokes bounty and security in one of the most dangerous parts of the world.

But as a small sign of the many ways the White House maximized the impact of the 2½-hour stop at the Baghdad airport, administration officials said yesterday that Bush picked up a decoration, not a serving platter.

Officials said they did not know the turkey would be there or that Bush would pick it up. A contractor had roasted and primped the turkey to adorn the buffet line, while the 600 soldiers were served from cafeteria-style steam trays, the officials said. They said the bird was not placed there in anticipation of Bush's stealthy visit, and military sources said a trophy turkey is a standard feature of holiday chow lines.

The scene, which lasted only a few seconds, was recorded by a pool photographer and described by officials yesterday in response to questions raised in Washington.

Repeating what was in the article is not very original, genius. If you stopped to THINK, you'd know that the "pool photographer" is approved by the Presidents' staff and military brass. ANYTHING they release to the public is with official approval. The photo insinuates that the Shrub was about to serve a turkey, which he didn't. But the original release to the world NEVER stated anything to discourage or correct this insinuation. So it's no wonder that the "fake turkey" legend took hold. A matter of fact, a matter of history.

The white lab coats were for the visual record....it's not like the doctors said, "hey, we'll do it, but not with our lab coats" and then were forced at gunpoint to do so. Simple...some had them, some didn't...so the jackets were provided. Now for your claim of propaganda to be valid, you'll have to prove that what was being endorsed is a lie, and all who were involved knew so.
