How about this rule?

Do you bar your wife from going to church for 40 days after giving birth to a son? And would you bar her from going to church for 80 days after giving birth to a daughter?
Or how about the regulations conserning a woman's menstrual cycle?

And its funny that you said you did not believe the story of Noah was to be interpreted literally, but when you want to rant against tats the writings in Leviticus should be taken literally.
It pretty much negated any and all requirements to keep your body holy, the final sacrifice had been made and your meat casing and what you were cased in no longer mattered.
It is pretty much the same thing as the law against mixed fabrics (hence my 'so is clothing' remark earlier), or the law against eating ham. It was gone with the New Covenant.

Tattoos are expressions of the person, they are artistic in nature and are no different that getting an ear pierced or growing a beard.
That is also one of the Ten Commandments. The Sabbath is currently observed by Christians on Sunday.
Had a guy come to church this past Sunday. Biker type. He was wearing a jacket (it was cool weather) but as I introduced myself and welcomed him he said he was covering his tattoos. He was "shopping around" for a church to attend. I told him there was no need to cover his arms. No biggee. I could point to at least 5 faithful members of our congregation who have tattoos.
Since there was a change of laws....and days.
