Tesla Semi-truck stops would consume the electricity of a small town

Our grids were great for the 1930's and even the 1940's. They were average for the 1950's-1970's. The last few decades they have been below average. Texas has been leading the way into having an embarrassing grid.

If we modernize, we can not just have a great grid full of new technologies, but we will have the industry to sell new grid technologies to the rest of the world. It would be a win/win/win situation.

I honestly cannot understand why some people are arguing for a hundred year old grid.

There is nothing wrong with the Texas power grid.
A power grid is already using the latest technology. It's installed as part of maintaining the grid. The equipment in power grids in the States is NOT 100 years old.

The meme assumes that plenty of people believe that he is a real scientist, or a "certificated scientist".

I will give you a leeway for not realizing what the meme is implying and that it's claim is a lie.

That's projection on your part. It is primarily a definist fallacy on your part. You toss in terms that aren't there and then expect me to accept them as accurate. It is also a form of Bulverism in that you assume means and motive then state I am wrong.

What people assume or believe, doesn't change that Nye is not a scientist. Maybe you should be more concerned that Nye is passing himself off as a scientist.

Oh, by the way, a "certified" scientist is one that has been professionally licensed or otherwise legally recognized such as persons with specific scientific specialties that act as expert witnesses in legal proceedings.

APL hears "certifiable" so much concerning him personally he thinks that term applies to everyone..

I see that when you are confronted with an obvious error on your part, you resorted to accusing me of fallacies that aren't there.

I will help you.

1. The meme correctly states that Bill Nye is not a scientist. (Captain Obvious fallacy, my own new fallacy that I have invented)
2. The meme correctly states that he plays as a character on a TV show that everyone knows is not him in real life. (See above)
3. The meme goes on to claim that "liberals believe" everything he says (whatever "everything" means) because of the inherent assumptions that are implied in the first two points.

Does that help?

Bill Nye is a licensed engineer. He makes an entertaining educational TV show called Bill Nye the Science Guy. I guess he is a "science guy", in that he presents science to children.

Bill Nye denies and discards many theories of science, including the laws of thermodynamics, Planck's laws including the Stefan-Boltzmann law, the ideal gas law, Heisenberg's law, Schrodinger's law, and Einstein's laws of relativity and special relativity. He is not a licensed engineer. Engineering is not science.

He did work for Boeing for a short time, with no significant contribution. Most of his life has been spent as an actor and a comedian. He hold a BS in mechanical engineering.

No, because you now trying to build a Sorites paradox. That is, you are trying to make a mountain out of an anthill. Just because the meme is imprecise doesn't make it wrong. It is just a meme after all...

Wow. You cannot accept your loss. I'll leave you alone until you come to terms with it.

Till then, Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll help you. Primavera wants you to believe the truck stops will consume electricity the equivalent of a small city IMMEDIATELY in Dec. That is wrong. The company warned that it will occur on or around 2035. By then the grids will be fully upgraded.

Such a truck stop would consume electricity the moment it begins to be used by electric trucks.

The electrical grid is always being upgraded (except in the SODC, where it is being dismantled).

Again, you are failing to realize that transmitting power is only part of the problem. You have to generate it too. That means a LOT more generating stations. Solar and wind piddle power aren't going to cut it.

That is not what National Grid Plc said.

A common truck stop full of Tesla Semis or similar electric rigs, on the other hand, will have the electricity consumption of a small US town by 2035, while a highway plaza electric truck and car stop will need the power of an industrial plant by 2045.

Capitalism isn't bankruptcy. Capitalism is the only economic system that creates wealth. Your question is irrelevant. Capitalism is not a crime. It is an economic system. Capitalism is the voluntary production of products and services that are voluntarily sold for an agreed upon price. The wealth spreads to all the buyers.
85% of capital leave the area where it was created and gets routed through Wall Street. Shareholders make most of the wealth created off worker production. That's theft, not an economic system.

They're already in use all over Europe. You always prove how ignorant you are while bragging about your "education".

https://www.volvotrucks.com/en-en/n...eads-the-electric-truck-market-in-europe.html

"Statistics from the market analysis group IHS Markit show that during 2021 a total of 346 electric trucks (≥16 tonnes) were registered in Europe – an increase of 193% from 2020. Volvo Trucks has the largest market share at 42%. The countries in Europe with the most electric trucks registered (≥16 tonnes) are Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and The Netherlands.*

“We are determined to drive the electric truck revolution and our market leading position in Europe is proof that we are doing just that. Even if volumes are still low, we see rapidly growing interest, both in Europe, North America and in other parts of the world. In 2021 we have taken orders, including letters of intent to buy, for more than 1,100 trucks in over 20 countries. I’m convinced it’s becoming a key competitive advantage to offer electric, zero emission transports,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks."

Fascism is not 'interest', dude. Making up numbers and using them as 'data' is a fallacy. Electric vehicles are NOT zero emission. No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth. You can't create energy out of nothing.

A truck that only achieves 250 miles before needing a charge is not practical. As always, charging takes hours. That's time that truck can't be on the road and pulling it's freight.

Again, I am trying to explain to you that Primavera omitted a fact and wanted you to believe that will strain the grid immediately next month. The fact of the matter is that the company warned about the increasing strain up to 2035, unless the grilds are being upgraded, which they will be.

The grid in the SODC is already strained. It can't handle the demands put upon it now.

The word 'certified' doesn't appear anywhere on this meme.
There is no such thing as a 'certification' in science.
Word stuffing.

There is no such thing as a 'certified science'. Science requires no license, certification, degree, or any other sanctification.
