Senate approves historic legislation to protect same-sex marriages

There is nothing more demented than telling people that a man marrying a man or a woman marrying a woman is not pure perversion.

The Constitution has an inspiring preamble and some amendments that attempt with varying degrees of success to protect some essentials freedoms.

First and foremost, however, it's a "constitution" which is charged with defining that of which our government is constituted.
The government it created is the least efficient government EVER created.
We are an early effort at a democratic republic, and said efforts have been vastly surpassed by more modern governments.

The fact that rural state regressives have political representation and power far in excess of what their numbers warrant in terms of population percentage
is why America is the dumpster fire, rapidly approaching dystopia status, that it is now.

Wait until Trump runs as an independent, nobody gets 270 electoral votes, and the House chooses the next president.
They'll probably choose the republican candidate who finished third in the general election.

The Electoral College is the process we use to elect the U.S. president. Established in the U.S. Constitution, its purpose is to spread the power to elect the president across all 50 states. It was designed to ensure that the more populous states didn't overpower the smaller states when choosing the nation's leader.

The fact is that our rural states are mostly regressive. Not New Hampshire or Vermont... but the rest of them are.

We will either partition into multiple nations with more compatible values within them, or we will create a deeper "fourth world' level of misery as we continue our journey down history's toilet drain.

America in its current configuration is a socially regressive disaster put to shame by the modern democracies of the world.

New Hampshire, despite it's all blue congressional delegation, is still the least progressive New England state.
Governor Sununu is pretty much a neanderthal. Maggie Hassan ran as if she were ashamed to be a Democrat and only won because she was running against that idiot general that nobody but trumpanzees liked.

This demented law is not settled law until the Supreme Court rules.

I expect it will be decided as the Dobbs decision.

There is no enumerated right in the Constitution to perverted marriage.

That third party candidate will have to win some states to gain any electoral votes and that is highly unlikely. If Trump were capable of splitting the conservative vote in any state and defeating the other conservative, the democrat would almost certainly defeat both of them and take all the electoral votes.

I hope that's true, but only Trump and the Republican nominee will be viable in many red states, and those could be real contests.
The fact that 270 is no sure thing means the House can put in potentially, or at least theoretically, whosoever the hell they want.

What I'm not sure about is whether it's the newly elected House or the lame duck House that makes the decision.
I'm sure that I knew that once, but I can't remember.

1, California grows quite a bit of food.
2, even if the rural south were partitioned, they still have to sell us their crops. What else are they going to do with them?
People don't seem to realize that if we partitioned and weren't writing one another's laws and tax codes, we actually might get along better than we do now.
