You are correct. She committed her crimes up until the month before her 20th birthday. Anyway, the cutoff age is 21 for adult court in Germany, so she was below it. In the USA, she would be considered an adult, and even if she was a juvenile, it is often easy to transfer juveniles to adult court.

For better or worse, the WWII generation is passing. She was 19 years old at the end of WWII (three weeks from her 20th birthday), and now is 97 years old. She may well be the last Nazi criminal prosecuted. Her husband, also a Nazi criminal, died 50 years ago.

Did you know she actually tried to make a run for it? She took a taxi from the retirement home where she lives to the subway station, and tried to figure out how to take the subways to get out of Germany. She still knows she is guilty, and what the possible ramifications of that are. She just does not know how to travel.
