The death penalty is a deterrent. When it was re-instituted in New York the murder rate dropped remarkably. Therefore if you advocate against it you advocate for murders of innocent folks.

The death penalty was never re instituted in New York. Pataki signed the law into place but the courts struck it down and it's never been put back in place. The decrease in murders in the 90's was a general trend throughout the US and the developed world, and had no plausible correlation with the death penalty.

If any of this was true, and it's not, then states with no death penalty would have higher murder rates, yet when you compare all the states with the DP vs states without the average murder rate is lower in Non DP states. See for your self at http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/murder-rates-1996-2008 and just so you know and don't embarass yourself anymore, NY has no death penalty. Of the twenty states with the highest murder rates, ALL have the death penalty. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

The rate dropped dramatically between the time that Patiki signed the bill in 1995 and the courts overrode the will of the people in 2004. Now its going back up. My what a surprise. You liberals must be happy.

Again you are a liar. These stats are too easy to look up for you to lie about them. With the exception of one year NY state's murder rate has dropped since 2004 and every year since is lower than when they did have the death penalty. You have been exposed as the liar you are.

You're trying to compare apples to oranges with rates between states. The fact is that the rate dropped dramatically over the 9 years that New York had the death penalty.

It did not, look at the table in my post. It shows NY's murder rate which was much higher in 2008 than last year or any year since.
