Most of America thinks it should be available for the 1st trimester, regardless.
There are other circumstances where women are careful, and still get pregnant. And there are many cases that they get pregnant against their will, but can't prove it in a court of law.
It needs to be legal in the 1st trimester. We can all work to try to make it more rare.

Nobody wants to use it as birth control. There are too many other easier, less intrusive methods. But there are people in this country attempting to make access to those kinds of birth control illegal also.
In my opinion, attempting to criminalize abortion is 99% a religion driven thing...mostly Christian driven.
Gotta wonder why. It is possible Jesus never even mentioned abortion. He certainly didn't make it important enough for any of the writers to mention it.

Abortion is birth control for careless and irresponsible people, and we have no shortage of those.
If we excluded such people from access to abortion,
we'd be inflicting "unwanted status" on a lot of babies,
which is infinitely more cruel than humanely aborting them.
And, we'd be making parents out of those careless and irresponsible people.
That's what kids need, right?
I know a lot of people who were actually wanted as infants
and would still have been better off aborted, whether they realize it or not,
Any life in which the rewards don't adequately compensate the travails is a net-negative experience.
People who advocate for the existence of such lives are nothing less than sadists.
It's difficult to not view such misogynists as sadistic villains.
What's really difficult for me is to understand why this isn't obvious to everybody.
People for whom it's obvious and people for whom it isn't are far too incompatible to live in the same republic.
I sincerely believe that, and that's one reason why I'm a partitionist.

if that were the case, then you gave up any hope for an argument about personal responsibility in any and all matters. that person in whose body the pregnancy is happening exercised a right to choose by choosing to engage in an act that she KNEW could result in a pregnancy. Now, if you wish to allow any and all individuals a freedom from responsibility in any and all matters, let me know.

If that's being accountable for leaving your gun around where a kid can get it and cause injuries, or accepting the responsibility of birthing a child when you knew there was a risk of pregnancy, even after taking all precautions...........are you afraid of being responsible for your own actions?

It's actually tyranny to dial back history and take away a woman's right to choose - to FORCE a woman to carry a fetus to term, against her will.
Birth control fails. Calculated risk or not - bringing an unwanted child into the world is not a remedy for that.
Not extremely rare, at all. Most rape doesn't get prosecuted.
So are you suggesting that in order to avoid tyranny...a minority should be able to rule over a majority???

how long have you been of the mindset that a woman is incapable of understanding the risks associated with consensual sex?
and there's a simple solution for that......don't engage in sexual relationships if you're not capable of carrying to term. Much like don't get a fucking gun for protection if you're not ready to kill another person or animal.
and i'm the first person to agree that that needs to be changed. If I had my way, most rapists would never make it to trial anyway, but i'm not an extreme vigilante........yet.
