We could do a lot worse than Chris Christie

The guy is right about a lot of things. When he speaks of gun control he at least is willing to compromise calling it the most difficult public policy question facing the nation.

On abortion he is wrong saying he supported the decision to overturn Roe v Wade. At least here he is not for any federal ban but to leave the decision up to the states.

His thoughts on Social Security include something I have professed for years. If you are Warren Buffet, do you really need a social security check? Do you just want tour money at the cost of someone trying to make ends meet with food and shelter? The very rich should be congratulated for their success by making them ineligible for funds designed for those who need it. Changing the age of retirement is not a good idea since our life expectancy is going down but at least he is not for any cuts.

I’m not sure how to address China but he sees the threat and that we need to be fair but we won’t be chumps.

When he says Trump’s refusal to accept defeat in the 2020 election is like a child throwing a tantrum after failing a test at school and that Trump is self centered and doesn’t give a damn about the American people he hits the nail on the head. When he says that other candidates are supporting him now in hopes to compete for his supporters should he be forced out of the race he also hits the nail on the head. He is also not ignorant enough to compare Trumps actions to anyone else.

I won’t vote for him but I guess what I’m saying here is if a republican were to win the next general election, and I had to choose now, it would be Christie.

I'd rather have Nikki....who I'd vote for. :)

Odds are, it'll be DeSantis and I'll be voting Libertarian.

He kissed up to Trump when he had power. He only turned honest after.

I'd vote for her too but there's NFW the Republicans would nominate her.

So how many republicans do you think feel the same way that you do? I would say a lot. There are enough republicans out there that will now refuse to vote for trump that there is no way Trump could possibly win a general election. He has a lot of MAGA shitheads out there that worship him and maybe enough to win a republican nomination if he isn't in jail, but nowhere near enough to win a general election. No fucking way! I cannot imagine a single person who did not vote for him last time that will now, I can imagine millions that did before that won't now.

I think her politics are awful, but she is a good person who believes in America and the rule of law.

IIRC, about 2/3s of current Republican voters support Trump. That may change over the next year, but those are the current numbers.

That said, like Democrats, Republicans only number about 30% of American voters. The larger block, Independents, number about 40% and lean away from Trump.

If you vote Libertarian (or anything other than for the Democratic Party candidate) you will, in effect, be voting for the Republican Candidate.

Yeah. Same thing goes in the other direction.

Too bad the Democrats don't have better candidates. LOL

EVERY Democratic Party candidate is a much better choice than whomever the Libertarians choose.

I recognize how lots of people feel about the Libertarians, but it is delusional. Libertarians essentially are people who recognize there are societal problems that MUST be repaired, but who just do not want to pay for the repairs. They are like Trump wanting superior legal representation.

Disagreed. Good thing you can't force people to vote the way you like. :)

Being a Third Party, as large as it is, the Libertarian party has a higher percentage of kooks. I'm hoping that, if the Republican Party keeps becoming the White Supremacist Party, that more true conservatives will become Libertarians and bring more sanity to the Libertarian Party.
