Whether their beliefs are true or not, an increasing number, to now represent a majority of Americans, believe that elections are full of 'cheating.' Many think that election officials and others in government are ignoring claims of election fraud and even working actively to produce it.

It doesn't matter if this is true or not. The fact that a majority think and feel this way, should be a major alarm bell to politicians and government about elections. If people have no faith in the results, whether they are fair and accurate or the result of fraud and cheating, means the people have no faith in government. That is going to become a serious problem for our society.

wonder what's going to happen when the majority of the population feel that they aren't being represented any longer and refuse to give their consent to be governed?

Perhaps some people should stop telling "the big lie."
I would bet we will get many on this thread repeating "the big lie."

Of course I do. Nearly half of Democrats (and the Left) think there's cheating going on. On the non-Left / Democrat side of things its at 3 out of 4 and headed towards 100%.

That is a problem.

Imagine this scenario with the above. Biden faces somebody other than Trump. Polls have Biden--like he is now--with rock bottom favorability polling in the low 40's to mid 30's--and yet he somehow manages a narrow victory. You could easily have over 50% of the population not believing the results. Doesn't matter if they're accurate or full of fraud. The population at that point doesn't believe in the results, and that's what matters. They see the results as illegitimate, and the government that is being put in power the same way. That is a major problem.

You are missing the point. THAT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER! What matters here is that the population believes the election was fraudulent and all the attempts by government officials, the MSM, whoever saying they're wrong isn't going to change that. The population's perception, belief, is the election was rigged, fraudulent, and full of cheating.

It is important that the population believe in and can see that the election process was fair and accurate. The Democrats, and the Democrats alone, are driving this change in perception / belief towards people saying the elections are rigged and full of cheating. What is driving this?

Mail in balloting, particularly all mail in balloting
Ballot drop boxes
No voter ID
Ballot harvesting
Voting 'seasons' that last weeks
No ensuring voter rolls are accurate
Automatic voter registration

That's a sample of things that are causing people to question the election results, and it's getting worse not better.
 
At one time, the majority of people also thought Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11.

Repetition in messaging works. Propaganda is effective - which is why it has been used as a tool for centuries.

I'd start with a return to elections being done totally in person with voter ID. No mail-in voting, no ballot harvesting, no drop boxes, no weeks of voting. You go to a polling station, present your ID, get verified as the correct person to vote, cast your ballot on paper that is kept as a record, and your vote is counted.

Everything the Democrats are doing and want for elections is driving this perception of fraud and cheating, and it's well grounded in how things look to the average rational person.

Everybody gets mailed a ballot. No voter ID required. You have several weeks to fill out and return your ballot to a drop box, mail it in, or the like. Ballot harvesters will come to your door to get it if you are lazy. The voter rolls are never purged. Instead, once on gets you a mail in ballot forever. You get automatically registered to vote when you do to get a driver's license, no questions asked.

How the hell does that look to the average, rational person? How does it look to you? But that's EXACTLY what the Democrats are doing, and it already exists in full in many blue states.

Next there is nothing a democrat has said for almost 20 years now that makes me think they give a shit about me.
Next the hard on you people have for trump while ignoring anything a democrat does makes everybody suspicious of you and the system

It apparently isn't working in getting people to believe elections are fair and accurate. Propaganda doesn't work when the people it's directed at see for themselves something different than the message going on.

They could change everything about the way they handle elections.

If prominent politicians continue to lie about election integrity, it will make no difference. It's the messaging from Trump and his many minions that have eroded faith in our system - not the system itself. That is obvious.

What matters is why they think that. Trump was the first to make the ridiculous false claims about his losing a corrupt election. Yet he proved it was fair and honest. All elections are checked for honesty and our system is very good. We find very few "bad votes'. They are mostly a person using a dead relative's mail-in vote.
Trump and Fox have been bleating about the corrupt election so long and so steadily, that almost all their viewers believe it. That does not make it true.
Trump is a threat to the American experiment in many ways. Right wing news makes the threat real.

No one said you have to vote for a Democrat. That is the point of free and fair elections. You are free to vote for whoever you want and the winner is decided by counting the actual votes cast.

The most amazing thing to me when Trump started w/ the Big Lie was how easily his supporters believed it. They didn't ask questions. Trump said it? It must be true.

A pathological liar who can't accept losing, ever. I doubt he's ever lost anything without yelling about "cheating" - probably going back to kickball in grade school.
