Did those “hundreds” all have clean arrest records? Did they all have zero prior charges against them? Was it their first time with no history of violence? You’d have to answer all those questions before making the claim you did

How many times has a person just got a misdemeanor for taking an illegal tax deduction for his prostitutes or a deduction for a sex club? The gun charge frequently are felonies with probation on 1st offences.

it isn't up to the judge, it is up to the defense to accept that they do not have immunity for future charges, such as foreign lobbying.
