NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A former Tennessee state senator on Friday was sentenced to 21 months in prison after he unsuccessfully tried to take back his guilty plea on federal campaign finance charges and initially described the case as a “political witch hunt.”

Former Republican Sen. Brian Kelsey received his sentence in U.S. District Court in Nashville in the case centering on his attempts to funnel campaign money from his legislative seat toward supporting his failed 2016 congressional bid. He won’t have to begin his prison time until October.

“I do think there’s a need to sentence you that sends a message for general deterrence,” U.S. Judge Waverly Crenshaw said Friday.

Tennessee is infamous for it's co(R)ruption and that's coming from someone that lives here. We're getting a new Titans Stadium and I'm pretty sure Bill Lee's (governor) "Lee Company" is going to have the HVAC contract.

They watch campaign money very closely.

The Texas AG is in big trouble, too! His own GOP party turned against him there - if even the GOP thinks you're a crooked Republican, you must've really f'd up!

"SAN ANTONIO (CBSNewsTexas.com) — A published report says a federal grand jury in San Antonio is meeting to look into ties between impeached Attorney General Ken Paxton and an Austin developer.

The Austin American-Statesman cites two sources with knowledge of the case, and its report comes less than one month before the impeachment trial is set to begin on Sept. 5.

The Statesman says the grand jury is calling witnesses close to Paxton, who remains suspended without pay after being impeached by the Texas House in late May.

According to the report, the grand jury is looking at the relationship between Paxton and Austin developer Nate Paul, who was indicted by the feds in a separate case."

But Clarence Thomas and his batshit crazy battle-axe of a wife can get whisked away on luxury vacations and get free housing and tuition sponsored by billionaires. As long as Clay's opinions go the wing nut GOP's way, that is. I know there's corruption in SCOTUS with some of the other justices both libs and cons, but Clay is the worst, by far. There needs to be some oversight/accountability of SCOTUS! They're an international embarassment.

Paxton needs to spend a few years in prison.

Previously post about the Clinton Foundation. :)

Let's be honest; the only difference between the Clintons and the Trumps is that the Trumps are fucking morons.

I've flown with a few ex-cops and they said the same thing; most crooks are dumbasses. Robbing a store with a gun for $300 is idiotic. Smart crooks put on a suit and move to NY or DC.

It’s a fucking lie Dutch

Huber's investigation “has effectively ended with no tangible results.” After combing through documents and conferring with federal law enforcement officials looking into the Clinton Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Post reports that Huber has “found nothing worth pursuing,” let alone any criminal charges. The U.S. attorney has not yet officially reported
