The conservative responses are just boring at this point.

Convincing themselves that Putin was just so afraid of Trump that the Ukraine would have been fine if Trump was in office. Complaining about how the lame war they had pom poms out for 20 years ago wasn't ended perfectly. Saying that 13 million jobs are a "lie."

Because Putin feared his suckup?

If Trump was a factor for the invasion occurring after instead of before the election the likely reason is that Putin was protecting Trump's chances, his concern being that if Russia invaded and Trump not only held the U.S. back but also refused to
agree to NATO assistance, as Trump would have done, it would hurt Trump with voters.
