BTW that included almost all Evangelicals, until they saw this as a political issue to use against Dems when they were pouting that they were losing court cases across the country allowing them to keep blacks segregated. So that is even more "deplorable" that they DNGAF about this issue other than as sour grapes to try and 'own the libz'.
I am at the same place. I think once a pregnancy reaches 20 weeks, the fetus should begin to have some competing rights, and those rights would increase over the remainder of the gestation. Before that, I see absolutely no reason that abortion on demand is not appropriate. I love how they try to make an issue out of late term abortions. The numbers are miniscule, and in almost all cases, it is a result of a health issue, either with the fetus or the mother. The less government is involved, the better. I just laugh when one of our resident libertarians want to see a federal abortion ban. ROTFLMFAO!!! He doesn't even know what it means, he just thinks it makes him cool.
Second consideration is that the Governor of Kentucky might be a Democrat, but if he was in say New York, he’d probably be running as a Republican, the party tags aren’t uniformed across the country

Science is quite clear about the stages of development, from zygote to Fetus to baby.
You are free to call it what you want, but that does not make is so.
Do you accept different people have different views on this and some believe 'life must be protected from the moment of ejaculation by the man' and that even trying to intercept the sperm trying to travel to the egg is an abortion to them.
Do you agree with people like that? And would you use law to impose that restriction on others, as some religious nuts are trying to do?
