I don't know who interviewed Putin in your link, but it was only a couple months after 9/11. Historical context helps with understanding the changes in dynamics.

Tucker needed a win and, IMO, promised a softball interview with Putin in order to secure it. Putin's paranoia would have prevented him from giving any interviews he couldn't control.

My understanding is that he was asking about any reporter interviewing Putin being a Putin "buddy". That's not pro-Putin or pro-Tucker. Agreed Tucker slobbered all over Putin.

IMO, these days, I strongly doubt Putin would let himself be interviewed by anyone who might ask embarrassing questions. I doubt Tucker would have been granted the interview if he didn't let Putin see all the questions first and okayed which ones could be asked.

I don't see how that makes one a "buddy" regardless. You want to interview Putin you would agree to the terms he lays down. It takes some cajones to do it nowadays now that they have another news reporter from the US in their prison (he pressed Putin about her release too). Now I'm certain they cleaned the streets he would see durig his stay, and likely had a deliberate and uncompromising route to and from the interview (I doubt he could make random stops, is what I am saying here). I don't necessarily think he's a "pal" of Putin though.

I personally would not go there to interview him at this time because Putin was, and always will be in my mind, the head of the KGB during the time I was in Intelligence in the Navy, which was during some of the most brutal and egregious KGB activity. There is little good I could say about the guy. I did notice that he had no problem sitting and remembering hundreds of years of history, while I could not say that either of the two likely candidates for the major parties would be capable of that. Shoot, Biden, in less than 20 minutes where he was trying to show his brain worked, proved he cannot even remember the word "Gaza" without notes and mistook Mexico for Egypt, I saw none of that from Putin. Knowing that his brain is functional does not make him any less dangerous, actually quite the opposite.

I doubt Tucker and Putin are pals. Tucker needed the exposure and was willing to let Putin use him to that end. Agreed it was risky on Tucker's part, but I don't know all the details about the negotiations for the interview. Not sure which reporter you are referencing since Putin has detained, arrested or killed many of them. Most, from what I've read, protested Russia, spoke against Putin or may have been digging in areas that Putin construed as "espionage". Tucker is an entertainer, not an investigative journalist, so his safety is relatively assured. LOL

Most of my military years were during the Soviet Union days too. Putin was born in 1952, so he has a few years on both Biden and Trump.

You're that optimistic about Tucker? LOL Yes, Bill was thrown out, but he's also a very rich elderly man. Tucker is 20 years younger and unlikely to reach the pinnacle Bill made before falling from grace.
