Seperation of Church and State...! Jefferson style!

Again, it is still not owned by any particular religen.... Its not promoting any particular religen...

If the Jews cant get the same deal, okay Id say its violative of the Constitution.

If the athists or Pagans want a building they should also get the same deal.
Dude, its owned by the "Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation of the District of Columbia", and built on land donated to it by the US government.

You obviously didn't read your own link.

From the website you posted:

"The first tract of land for the Cathedral site (30 acres) was purchased in 1898 for $245,000. Two other parcels of land were purchased later, bringing the total cost to $291,427 and the total area to 57 acres."

The land was not donated, it was purchased.

Here is exhibit one in the case that people of this ilk ONLY believe that relgious freedom applies to majority religious views. Because MORE people believe that jesus was some sort of savior it is ok for public funds and property to be used to promote the birth of some poor jewish kid, but not the festival of lights, known as Hannukka, or for the Kwanza celebration and goddess forbid if the Wiccans were allowed to put up a yule or Samhain display.

Dude Kwanza is a made-up holiday designed to segregate folks, Hannukka is a minor Jewish holiday and only falsely elevated to equal status as Christmas falsely during the late 20th century.

"After his consecration in 1896, the Rt. Rev. Henry Yates Satterlee, the first bishop of Washington, secured land on Mount Saint Alban—the most commanding spot in the entire Washington area."

Yes, and if you read thru the Fact & Figures section and looked at all the Figures, you would see that they BOUGHT the land for almost $300k for 57 acres. Buying land in 1898 for over $5,000 an acres is hardly getting it donated.

Congrats for working tirelessly for two years and finding that I made a mistake. The Southern Man stands humbly corrected. :good4u:

But George's commission was paid for with public funds:

On January 24, 1791, President George Washington commissioned Major Pierre L’Enfant to create a visionary plan for the nation’s capital. It was L’Enfant who first imagined “a great church for national purposes.” Not until a century later, with support from community leaders such as Charles C. Glover, did plans for building Washington National Cathedral gain momentum.

So the great Southern Man was incorrect on a minor technical detail only....

How are your claims, even if true, relevant?

Why are you making shit up about donated land?

But, the church was built using private funds on land bought with private funds and is not part of any gov't entity.

This means it has no bearing on the discussion.

But, the public plan all along was to have a national cathedral. Who paid for it is inconsequential.

When the discussion is the separation of church & state, the fact that the church in question is not part of the gov't and was not paid for with tax payer funds, means it is private property. Therefore, it is not relevant to the discussion.

I have not visited it, but I am sure the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is a beautiful place.

Hey Jarod....
Does promoting or not promoting a particular religion have something to do with it that makes it Copnstitutional?

I'm not Jarod, but I can answer that. The gov't selecting a particular religion over all other religions is forbidden.

When atheists get together they spend most of their time attacking Christians. They don't need a building for that. When Christians get together in Church they spend most of their time worshiping God.

Bullshit...

The cathedral is both the episcopal seat of the bishop of Washington (currently the Right Reverend John Bryson Chane) and the primatial seat of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church
