The Liberals have set out on a full-fledged campaign to denigrate their opposition in every way possible, while promoting the idea of HCR as being the greatest thing to happen, and greatest Democratic accomplishment since Social Security. Despite the early poll numbers, they really do believe they can "turn the worm" on this between now and November.
Here is what they hope will happen... The relentless degrading and insulting of "teabaggers" will make it undesirable for many to associate with the group. Beating down the right with repeated cries of "Racism" will have the same basic effect, it will drive people away from the "right wing" because they fear being called names or associated with those who are called names. They fully realize (because it has worked in the past), if they can continue to pound away with the rhetoric, and have their accomplices in the media facilitate the rhetoric with supporting stories and bias slanted toward the Liberal mantra, by November, they will have 'swayed' enough voters so as to mitigate the political damage seemingly headed their way. They figure by 2012, enough people will be 'on board' with health care reform, they will have cleared the main hurdle, and the worst will be over.
Certainly, there will be some "moderate" types, who are so afraid of being called an "extremist" or associated with Republicans, they will peel away from the Tea Party support, and at least take an indifferent view by election time. There are indeed some Libertarian types who will find some way to justify sitting on their hands for yet another election cycle, refusing to budge on principle, even though they strongly disapprove of the socialist policies of Obama. But I firmly believe there is enough unwavering support for the Tea Party, and opposition to Obamacare, that nothing the Liberals can do, will be enough to stop what is heading their way. Still, we will have to endure their lame and phony attempts at trying to stop it, no matter how unethical and deplorable their tactics.
