And Yarden waited.

He waited for news.
He waited for the deal that would bring his family home.
Then, at last, they exchanged him.
"Where’s Shiri? Where are my boys?"
"They're still there," he was told.
And Yarden waited.
And prayed.
On Thursday, they came home.
In coffins.
Gazans celebrated the event. Cheered and sang songs, as they handed over the lifeless body of a 9-month-old baby to the Red Cross.
Yarden watched them on TV.
The coffins were moved to forensics.
DNA confirmed his children were there.
But the mother, wasn’t his wife.
They placed a stranger’s body in her place. To mock him, one last time.
In their lives, they separated little boys from their father, and in their deaths, they separated them from their mother.
And Yarden waited.
For the cause of death.
Forensics came back,
They were strangled.

Bare hands.
A 9 months old, a 4 year old, and their mother.
The people who took them alive, strangled them alive, and to cover their tracks, mutilated the bodies.
And Yarden waited.
For forensics to finish.
And then finally said,
