Yes. I don't think Vance and Trump have thought this through far enough. Although there may be a reason Trump doesn't want to be bogged down in Ukraine, for the very reason you just mentioned re China's recent sabre rattling; I don;t know because I'm not there and included in the info loop. We need military here defending our own borders at the moment, just to get rid of the Democrats' foreign army invasions as well. Years of Democrat treason and organized crime have depleted our resources as well.

IMO, we are not going to go isolationist on Taiwan. That island is surrounded by a plethora of U.S. bases, and we are strengthening are allies in the region.

China as nothing to gain from destroying the island of Taiwan.

Trump just reversed the so-called Biden administration promise to come to the aid of the Province of Taiwan.

We are back to strategic ambiguity.

They are nationalists; Taiwan is bad for their egoes. It is also an economic competitor, and too close to their own borders for them to ignore. They also like to menace the Philippines and Australia.

Thanks to Obama and Biden, our allies can no longer trust us. Since WW II we have been abandoning allies as soon as they're inconvenient. That sort of thing gets noticed.

Ukraine was an internationally recognized independent country. Taiwan is not even recognized the USA as being an independent country(thanks to Nixon). trump does not appear to be drawing the line at Taiwan. Heck, right now he is practically inviting China to take control over Australia.

H10 is telling the truth, but from his perspective. trump is very much reversing the promise to come to Taiwan's protection. It was made well before Biden.

The second part of H10's statement is again from his perspective. He feels that Taiwan is a province of China, due to them being the same country for four years right after WWII. His perspective is being adopted by more and more of the world, with China pushing countries to agree that China can use any means, including war, to conquer Taiwan.
