Department of education.

So you support federal oversight and standards rather than "states' rights" when it comes to education?
I think the entire reason the DOE existed was because the States agreed that standardization was necessary. Businesses want to be able to rely upon standardized degrees be they HS or college. If they have to maintain their own databases of which states provide quality education and do not, then that's an unnecessary cost for every business in the country. Standardization across the nation is not only more efficient for business, but part of national security since the military and other government agencies would want to be able to rely upon standardization too.

That said, there's the old joke that an elephant is a mouse built to government specifications. There are several jokes about bureaucracies but I've learned they are a necessity in order for government to have checks and balances. Dictatorships are much more efficient but not conducive to freedoms for the citizenry.

In short, I support the States and Feds working together to provide world class educations to our children. It worked well into the 90s when the two major parties decided to put party agendas ahead of the best interests of the nation.

You're getting maudlin, Legina.

It's almost like Trump is allergic to the truth. And that has trickled down to MAGA politicians & pundits - they basically make up whatever stats and stories they need to promote their agenda. The truth literally doesn't matter.

Their supporters should set the bar higher, and actually check what they're saying against reality. To this point, they choose not to, which is why the MAGA movement is so strong.

But the foundation, without truth, is shaky.

Should we keep it? Our reading and math scores continue to plummet. What we are currently doing clearly is not working. Can we spend our money in a smarter way? What would you do? Do you think the states could better target the use of the money.
You're such a corporate toady! Hope they're paying you scale at least for your trolling:

And here's a little education for you as to what the DOE actually does:

Why does the US rank so low?

Disagreed. State's Rights is a starting point. The Constitution is the umbrella that covers us all. It's up to a dutiful Congress, Executive branch and SCOTUS to ensure our unalienable rights are protected.

The usual problem is conflicts between citizens and, in a capitalist country, citizens and corporations. IMO, the worst thing to happen to our Republic was giving an eternal, soulless corporation the same rights as an American citizen. Elon Musk and Trump's Oligarchy of Tech Lords is as result.
You should read what dumb fuck @Dachshund wrote a few minutes ago. I only read the first paragraph because it said that one mustn't use the word "oligarchy" unless we're writing a textbook cuz it's too hard and that Trump would never say "oligarchy" at one of his rallies.

Well, no shit. Trump can't spell oligarchy and I'm sure the prodigal foreigner (I thought he was dead) can't pronounce it.

He's an anti-American Down Under dumbass. I skip over his BS.

She doesn't know why someone should provide proof for a claim that they make on a political debate forum.

What a dumb fucking bitch.
Yep. "I said it so you must accept it" -- Toxic's motto.

People make typos all the time; I'm a frequent typo flyer due to visual impairment. Most of us just ignore them. But not Toxic, who feels compelled to point them out and laugh at them. So she richly deserves the same treatment, eh? Esp. given the false claim of once having been an educator.

There has already been a long delay in FAFSA and Pell grant approvals due to lack of personnel to process them. This delays students' ability to begin classes. Won't laying off all the DOE staff make this worse? Is that the real aim here -- discourage college educations for those who can't pay cash?

These changes are going to
Makes such a huge positive difference... Teachers are going to be able to teach again and kids are going to thrive... Money may actually be allocated where it's needed.... anyone actually involved in education realizes that...

Stop making a fool of yourself here and go post some more fawning Trump memes and dog shares. Those do no good either but at least you're not here flashing your floppies for attention and disrupting the adults while we discuss.
