1...10 to 12% unemployment but illegals are working...I see it every day...landscapers, roofers, siding installers, every building trade is swamped with illiegals, etc....

2...immigrants came illegally?...some did, some didn't,...either way, if they overstayed their visa, etc., they are here ILLEGALLY

1. No, I don't think they take jobs from americans. Employers had rather hire americans, if for no other reason than the lack of hassles.

2. Immigration is lower due to our crappy economy. Prior to the collapse we were taking in hispanics at a very high rate. They stopped coming when unemployment went so high.

3. Like past generations? How far back? Sections of NY had neighborhoods that became Little Italy, China Town ect. And hispanics have been flooding the US for decades. Its not a recent event.

4. This is accurate. Does anyone believe that a terrorist would be unable to walk into the US?

5. Immigration reform hasn't happened period. Not under democrats or republicans. Its a topic that politicians have avoided like the plague.

These points help the side of those demanding some sort of limits on our porous border.

The fact that 60% of the illegals came in as illegals is a big deal. If your 10.8 million illegals number is correct, that means that there are 6.4 million illegals in the US. By comparison, only 15 of our 50 states have populations greater than 6.4 million.

And yes, the flood of illegals has slowed (and even reversed) because of our economy.

If what you were saying was true then how comes we don't hear shit about the Canadian border?

Our border with Canada is much larger then Mexico and much less defensable.

Securing our borders is a good idea, we should make it as inconvienant as possible but I defy you to suggest a practical method that would actually work?

Canada controls who enters their country reasonably well. Or at least they do when compared to Mexico.

Ok, I may have overstated my point on the feelings of legal immigrants. But the ones I know have always spoken somewhat harshly of those who sneak in.
