Hegseth is something of a mixed bag. I'd say he wasn't and isn't a great choice for Sec of Def. But he's better than Lloyd Austin who was picked because he's Black (and, yes, that is the case or the Biden administration wouldn't have made a big deal out of that particular characteristic). Austin saw recruiting plummet as he pushed DEI on the military. Renaming bases was more important than readiness.
Any idiot could be the Department of Education secretary. The whole department is nothing but a loan business. It does little or nothing towards education. Biden's secretary of education was the chair warmer, Miguel Cardona. His one "big" thing while in office was trying to explain and defend Biden's illegal forgiving and cancelling of billions in student loans.
At least McMahon is trying to get rid of the whole department and let some minor government agency hand out the loans instead.
