It has to do with some formerly-voiceless people saying that the names were offensive, and that being picked up by the media and spread. Most of all it has to do with the fact that sports are corporate-owned businesses. Corporate bean counters calculated that changing the name(s) would cost them less $ than bad PR despite the screams of MAGATs, most of whom can't afford NFL tickets. Plus they were already boycotting the NFL over the #TakeAKneed controversy. (Which the exact same RW ppl in this thread whined about.)

In short, a corporation's board decided that changing a team name was a sensible business solution to a shrinking income. Reichtards can try to make it about "woke" all they want. They're morons.
