The difference between the "semi-automatic" rifles issued to folks in the military is the select fire, you get a "pew" setting, which fires one round per trigger pull (semi-auto), but then you can select "pew-pew-pew" setting, which fires three rounds per trigger pull (this is a great control setting), then you can select the "pew-pew-pew-pew-pew" setting, which will continue to fire as long as you hold the trigger. In no civilian offerings is such a selection available. In some the first setting is "no pew" (a safety), the second is "pew" and the third is "pew pew pew" but that one is not the three shot setting. I've actually seen a picture of an M4A Carbine with them labeled that way. The M4A doesn't have a fully auto setting, just the "pew" and "pew pew pew" and safety, guy labeled it "no pew"... the M4A1 has safety, semi-auto, and fully auto... no burst setting.
