Yes, it does. It is clear that persecution or social shunning doesn't lead to the sort of suicide rates or mental health issues trans people suffer from. But that doesn't lead to the conclusion that you made.

He's just being a contrarian. You said "No discernable group in society comes close to their suicide rate and it's so high it cannot be attributed to persecution or social actions against them."
What logic do you have for that conclusion? It's likely so high because they are bullied and ostracized at rates that the vast majority of people are not. But there could be many factors - you're not making a sound, scientific conclusion.
By all the studies I cited. There are plenty more where those came from. In one case the researchers looked at suicide rates among American slaves and couldn't find anything close to the rates trans people have. People in concentration camps don't off themselves at those rates. Prisons don't have that sort of rate. You said "No discernable group in society comes close to their suicide rate and it's so high it cannot be attributed to persecution or social actions against them."

You have yet to prove that.Yes, it does. It is clear that persecution or social shunning doesn't lead to the sort of suicide rates or mental health issues trans people suffer from.
I'm being honest. You are in denial. He's just being a contrarian.

Read the goddamned studies! I bothered to. Persecution and social shunning don't cut it.You have yet to prove that.
I know. Now he's talking about slaves.I just need some logic & science. His responses are devoid of that.
YOU HAVE NOT PROVED IT!!!Read the goddamned studies! I bothered to. Persecution and social shunning don't cut it.
Denial of what? You are making a false case that society has nothing to do with suicide.I'm being honest. You are in denial.
I can't read the entire study. It's not openly available. But it appears this study is one where correlation doesn't equal causation.State-level anti-transgender laws increase past-year suicide attempts among transgender and non-binary young people in the USA
From 2018 to 2022, 48 anti-transgender laws (that is, laws that restrict the rights of transgender and non-binary people) were enacted in the USA across 19 different state governments. In this study, we estimated the causal impact of state-level anti-transgender laws on suicide risk among transgender and non-binary (TGNB) young people aged 13–17 (n = 35,196) and aged 13–24 (n = 61,240) using a difference-in-differences research design.

From 2018 to 2022, 48 anti-transgender laws were enacted in the USA across 19 states. This study shows that these anti-transgender laws increased past-year suicide attempts among transgender and non-binary young people by as much as 72%.www.nature.com

I have just seen several studies marking the increase of suicide to correlate to it being illegal.I can't read the entire study. It's not openly available. But it appears this study is one where correlation doesn't equal causation.
Like I said, he's just being a contrarian.Why don't they "cut it?"
The examples you brought up are not apples to apples. Prisoners can have large, supportive social groups among their peers. In their peer groups, they do not experience anything like the isolation many transgenders experience.
But it goes much deeper than that. There are many factors in all of these situations, which neither you nor I fully know or understand. You're basically just riffing.
Science never demonstrates causation. The philosopher Hume showed this. But it appears this study is one where correlation doesn't equal causation.
Like how it was with gay people.I have just seen several studies marking the increase of suicide to correlate to it being illegal.
