I reject his belief that he's Libertarian. No Libertarian loves government spending and big government power like Maher does. He may be registered Libertarian but hes never voted for anyone without a D next to their name.

Plenty of people are liberal or conservative without being registered Democrats or Republicans. What makes Maher unique is that in such a tribal world, where so many treat politics like a blood oath and never criticize their own side, he is willing to call out what he sees as liberal excesses.
I always laugh when right-wingers complain that “he still votes for Democrats.” They are missing the bigger picture. If you are on the right and want change, you should want more liberals like Maher.
I am FAR to the left of Maher...and in fact, to the left on many issues than Amy Klobuchar or Bernie Sanders. And I am registered as an Independent. Do you suppose, Damo, I have never voted for anyone except people with a D next to their name? Do you suppose I have never voted for someone not recognized as a conservative?
I think Maher is an asshole...and I think Libertarianism is bullshit...leading inexorably to chaos and anarchy.

I agree the rhetoric needs to get better. But it's on both sides. And anyone who is reading about the assailant can conclude that it wasn't because he heard someone say "Hitler" on MSNBC that inspired his actions.
