Charlie Kirk Assassin Used .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle; easily capable of accurate 200 yd shot

Anybody watching the FBI news conference? Did you see the video of him coming off the building? Anyone see how he got the rifle off the building.

Even if the neck hit had not severed the artery, the hydro-static shock wave likely ruptured many blood vessels in the victims cranium.

This death was probably from blood loss, but even without the blood loss, he would have likely died from cranial anyuerism.

Don't be too sure that the weapon found in the woods was the actual weapon used. It could easily be a plant designed to throw off investigators and/or a way to increase political division.

Did he use a Carcano rifle. They are able to make great shots.
No , they are pretty much pieces of Italian shit compared to a Mauser.

Oswald was less than 100 yds from Kennedy when he took the shot you are trying to be "cute" about,.. still a decent shot.

Yeh; that would be a devastating hit. Some of the closer videos clearly show the shock force of the strike.

No doubt. I own a 1962 Model 70 in .270; the action is like liquid, it's so smooth.

My pre '64 .220 Swift was made in 1950. I honed and trued the bolt, measured the throat, and seat the bullets .002 off the lands.
The action is as smooth as the Sako L579 .243 and the 700BDL 30.06 (which I also worked).
A good and accurate rifle is a necessity in any rural household that target shoots and hunts.
The .220 performs consistently with precision at long range, even better that the other 2 above mentioned rifles (but not by much).

220 Swift is a seriously high-velocity round, to say the least.

I get a kick out of the morons shouting for more gun laws. What gun laws are they talking about? There has never been a single democrat supported proposal put forward by any lefty that would ban a bolt action hunting rifle like the gun used. Are they proposing that now? Ahhh no, political suicide, they haven't got the balls. Just another desperate attempt to exploit tragedy to advance their agenda, but they're getting a collective ho-hum. People are waking up.

A .30-06 Mauser would be a custom rifle, as that is not an original factory Mauser caliber. It could be of Belgian build in that caliber. It was the standard US military .30 caliber for WWI and WW2, and is still a popular hunting round. I own two rifles that fire that round. A Mauser in this caliber would have no problem being capable of a 200 yd. 1st shot hit.

It is a very powerful round, between 2500-3300 ft.lbs. of muzzle energy, with typical loads.

FBI recovers rifle used in Charlie Kirk shooting, traces path through woods

OREM, UT — Behind Utah Valley University's Losee building, FBI forensics agents were still gathering evidence Sept. 11 in the wooded area where the bureau said agents recovered the "high-powered" rifle a shooter used to kill political influencer Charlie Kirk.

The Wall Street Journal and New York Times, citing law-enforcement sources, reported it was an older model Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt action rifle. An ATF spokesperson declined to comment to USA TODAY, citing the active investigation.

Actually, the Mauser 98 (originally the Kar 98 a military pattern weapon) was manufactured in 30 06 after WW 2 and is available new as a sporting rifle using essentially the same, original, military breech and bolt design with a new barrel and stock.

I will say it's also a favorite of the gun toting Antifa sorts on the radical Left where it is seen as a "Fascist / Nazi" gun now being used to kill those the radical Left has dubbed fascists or Nazis. Or so says this bunch of radical Leftist nutters...

The rifle on the far left of the picture is a Mauser K98 for example.

I have yet to see any evidence that this gun was used, or that the shot was taken from the roof, or that the claimed shooter was the shooter.

Is there a bullet to match to the gun? I have not heard of one. Why was the crime scene immediately scrubbed? Is there audio to be analyzed like there was at Butler?
