AOC's brother, Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez, saw their open call and encouraged her to apply. She submitted an application and participated in interviews and training sessions that led to her selection.

Generally when she and her family relies on their about 8 year old kid to interpret for them it is a pretty safe assumption.

At the risk of a SFEO. I gave a labor epidural on a 16 year old mother that was Mexican and spoke zero English and her mother and father spoke no English either; . She dropped in for delivery and had ZERO prenatal care during her pregnancy.
