I have already provided what I think is the reason. I think he's protecting someone important to him, someone he didn't know was in the files until they started gathering them. They may even have the same name.

What do I think, because i dont know. I think it’s suspicious, but not clear on the why. I think he is protecting others, himself or both.

My best guess is it does not implicate him in actual sex with underage girls, but still shows him in some sort of negative light. Maybe shows he know about it!

I think any SOL’s have very likely expired.

My guess it that it does not necessarily implicate him with enough evidence to support criminal prosecution, like failure to report child rape…

He is very unlikely to be prosecuted for anything in the files, he might lose even more popularity.

A significant portion of his base wouldn’t care even if definitive evidence of child rape were to come out.

Simply a negative light doesn't seem to bother the Dementia Don. He just blusters and bullshits his way through it. By hiding the files, he's splitting his own party. That's a major danger going into the Midterms.

I think standard procedures, like redacting the names of victims would be reasonable, but otherwise I think the entire files should be released.

Whatever it is, Trump is so desperate to keep the files secret he's risking a Blue Wave next November and an impeachment.

Possible. As I said, I think his actions are suspect... but I don't think he would have run on releasing the files if he knew about this person they are trying to protect. I think he would have just never spoke on the subject.

I don't think it is him personally because of that, and because of the "leak" effect. If there was some meat to the sandwich we would have seen it.

However his actions tell a story, to both you and I... I suspect his kid (would have been over 21 when he kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago) possibly, or someone important to him in some way.

I do see that in the past Trump has accused people of things he is guilty of, in a deflection attempt.

Maybe not criminality, but maybe just very morally corrupt actions. Knowing about child rape and not telling the authorities. Things like that. Or criminality of those he is extorting…

It might be so bad it would tip the scales for him, make 100% lame duck and go down in history very negatively.
 
@Dutch Uncle don't forget the fact he called it a "hoax" and now wants only democrats investigated in said files. If he was innocent and had nothing to hide he'd release everything and call for an investigation into all the people involved.

Based upon his fear reaction, whatever it is, it's got a strong grip in his mind. @Damocles thinks he might be protecting Junior, but I doubt Trump cares about anyone more than his own legacy and bank account. Ergo, I think it's one of those two things.
