MTG is resigning

I know people love to spout shit that sounds like they know what they're talking about, simply because it's been hammered into their low-wattage brains on repeat. It's like the lazy-ass cliche 'politicians are all the same' for example, and because we know many do get wealthy in office, the dimwit mind jumps straight to 'they're all crooked and gaming the system.' Am I wrong?

Althea, just for fun you give me a Republican that mysteriously got filthy rich overnight while serving in Congress, then I'll give you a Democrat. Let's see who runs out first. I've done the research before so I already know the outcome, you try it now and let's see if you can still make the case that they all get wealthy in office when you're done.
The Senate and House voted themselves to be The Lords of America during the Reagan years, brah.
Take kickbacks from companies to vote their way?
All legal because they're the ones that make the laws.
Our forefathers never foresaw naked greed in elected officials.
Unfortunately.

It’s been a bad week for Donnie, last thing he needs is another media blow up with attacking the nation’s leading city

Keep in mind, it is Trump, tomorrow he could revert back to the Mamdani is a Commie rhetoric
It wasn't that long ago that he threatened to deport Mamdani, and withhold funding for NYC. Personally, I think Mamdani played him big-time by laying on a charm offensive.

It's weird whatever is happening.

Not as weird as this, but still weird.

Close, but not quite. The real explosion in congressional insider-trading riches kicked off around 2004-2005, nothing to do with the Reagan years at all.

Trading on non-public info had always been legal for them because Congress quietly exempted itself decades ago and the laws from the thirties never address public servants only wall street. What changed was the scale: after 9/11 and the housing/finance bubble, net worth for House members roughly doubled and Senate members tripled in just a few years, returns no hedge fund on earth could match.

The mask slipped hard during the financial crisis. Members who sat in on closed-door TARP and bailout meetings made perfectly timed trades that would’ve landed any normal citizen in federal prison. Paul Pelosi’s uncanny streak became the poster child, but dozens were doing it. Only what I called the minority press was sounding the alarm and I dug in to find the dirty little details I couldn't find anywhere in the press.

Then comes the 2012 STOCK Act, Congress pretending to fix the problem with a big public show of ‘no more insider trading, promise!’ The rubes bought it. Then, in 2013, in the dead of night, they gutted the transparency part (the public database requirement) by slipping a one-page amendment into a completely unrelated bill. Obama signed it. Mainstream media (95% libtard at the time) ran zero stories. Crickets.

Pelosi and the rest went right back to work. Since then, Democrats (and a healthy handful of crooked Republicans) have built layer after layer of protection: blind trusts that aren’t blind, spouses who magically pick winners, and slush-fund cutouts like USAID when the stock game gets too hot just like a hedge fund.

Same game, better armor. And the press still pretends it isn’t happening. I damn near choked laughing when Biden, on his way out the door, casually tossed Pelosi under the bus and suggested Congress finally ‘look into’ this insider-trading thing, like he just discovered it last week, lol. Perfect timing, Joe. A few years from now some moron here will believe and argue to the death that Biden tried to end it.

I say no. If you compliment it, it's probably fucked up.

Allow me, then, to compliment you.

I'm for America and Americans, and I say that there ain't good.

If you actually were "for America"...you would have no problem with people who think our economic system can be improved. It most assuredly can. And if someone thinks that it can be improved by incorporating some socialistic ideas, a true American would have no problem with that. It is what a true American would call...free choice.

You are a phony American, Matt. You are a large part of what is wrong with America right now.
I will never vote for Trump again, and if he disappoints that badly, woe be unto him.
Whatever. I listen to what people like you say and try not to laugh out loud. If I do, I have to explain to my wife what is so funny.

That's not typical Trump. Something weird is going on.
Gotta wait this one out. I hope it means he (Trump) will change his mind on some of the things he has said about punishing New York for doing things he does not like.

Living here in the NYC market, I have seen Mamdani campaigning...and he has a very compelling personality. Perhaps they just got along. They are both products of Queens, NYC...they do have that in common.

I would have just not run next year, and voted my conscience. It would be liberating. Leaving it open to a special election by leaving early just costs her constituency unnecessary money for her election.
I suspect it was the death threats by MAGAts which convinced her. She's putting her family first.

MAGAts have no qualms about murdering innocent men, women and children. The MAGAt leadership advocates raping the children first.

We saw clips of the last bit of it. Trump seemed "there" part of the time, and others he was dotty. He must want something to drop his crazed ranting about the new mayor, and act more adult than usual. One reporter asked him if he'd move back to NYC now and he said yes. I bet Malaria has something to say about that. lol

Incredible. Boggles the mind.

As did the meeting between Trump and Mamdani. Trump acted as presidential as I ever seen him. He did what was good for the country...for Mamdani...and for himself.

I applaud him...and Mamdani for how this went. I hope things continue to work out well between the two. The City needs that accommodation.
trump wants to move back to NYC. It's his home he's been banished from because he's horrible!
