Several U.S. veterans and military law experts are condemning Donald Trump after he accused a group of Democratic lawmakers of “sedition”, and said the offense is “punishable by death”, following their message to U.S. troops about rejecting illegal orders.
The dispute arose after a coalition of Democrats with military or national security experience, including Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly and Representatives Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, Maggie Goodlander and Chris DeLuzio, released a video on Facebook reminding service members that their oath is to the Constitution, not to any single leader.

Retired officers argue Trump’s remarks distort basic principles of military law and risk injecting partisanship into the armed forces.
Retired Air Force colonel Don Christensen, who once served as the service’s chief prosecutor, called Trump’s sedition comments “horribly wrong.”
“He uses sedition and treason very broadly and inappropriately. The irony is that if anyone committed sedition or treason, it was the people that he urged to overthrow the government on January 6 (2021) – and you know, he pardoned all of those people and calls them patriots and martyrs and all the rest," said David Frakt, a retired air force officer and attorney in the judge advocate general corps, military justice branch.

Miller and the wealthy had drawn up plans long ago. When Trump won, there was a huge pile of EOs on his desk. Do you think Trump had a clue what was in them? He autographed them one after another and the wealthy celebrated. They were the winners. Project 2025 is merely the latest. They had projects 2023, and 2024. Perhaps a lot more. They were ready when Trump won.
