What is the difference between a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist?

The reason I ask is because I have this female friend (Yes, she's a liberal) that is having very serious mental or depression problems because of her latest divorce. She has quite a lot of money, so hiring a psychologist or a psychiatrist would be no problem financially speaking for her.

So my guess is that the only difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist in this case should she choose one, is that the psychiatrist would be the only one qualified to issue any and or all psyche medicines that may be needed.

Anyone know the difference? Seems to me that as far as diagnosing and dealing with a patient as having severe mental or depressive conditions, that both of them would be on a similar or equal level.

As for you, your mind is burnt out beyond repair to the point that a psychologist or psychiatrist simply won't do you any good.

one does talking only.

the other one can give meds and do talking.

A medical degree is the difference, as are the competitive prices between the two professions.
I agree with that as well, but despite the medical degree and the income differences, I do think that
the both of them are on equal par as far as dealing with and offering advice to the patient.

I'd go to the psychologist.s

psychiatrists are notorious for just being big pharma shills with pills.

If she’s a modern liberal she’s had very serious mental or depression problems long before the divorce.

Good point.
but I'm kind of being provocative and overstated. if you know someone vouched for by a friend and you tell that psychiatrist about your preference it could be good.

I'd ask them if the COVID was manufactured in a lab or came from a "wet market".

seriously.... what I woud do.

yes. neocons are scared that trump WILL STILL WIN.

they didnt count on complete Dem failure and tp-usa failure to embolden the good(maga) over evil(neocon) aspects.

and neocons are pure evil.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor that specializes in disorders of the mind, psychiatry. Like like a Cardiologist a.medical doctor that specializes in disorders of the heart. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication a psychologist is a PhD not a.medical doctor. Most psychologists focus on psychometric testing.

What's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?

If you say, "I hate my mother", a psychiatrist will ask, "Why do you say that?", whereas a psychologist will say, "Thank you for sharing that with me."
