Maybe Canada should rename the bridge after Trump, problem solved?!! But seriously, Canada needs to stand up to Trump and his threats?!!

President Donald Trump has threatened to block the opening of a bridge connecting the US and Canada until Washington is "fully compensated for everything" it has given to its northern neighbor.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge, connecting the Canadian province of Ontario to the US state of Michigan, would not open until Ottawa "treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve", Trump wrote on social media.

According to the project's website, the bridge is being funded by the Canadian government but will be publicly owned by both Canada and Michigan.

Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat, said closing the "incredibly important infrastructure project" would be "awful for our state's economy".

The move could have "serious repercussions" she said in a post on X: "Higher costs for Michigan businesses, less secure supply chains, and ultimately, fewer jobs."

It is not clear how Trump could block its opening but he said negotiations would begin immediately, without elaborating.

Well he’s heading towards his 500th Executive Order so if nothing else that should do it, not the order it self, but the consequential the legal procedures that will surely follow putting the bridge in limbo

Fuck you asshole. You supported the assassination of your president so, fuck you!

Trump is going full Jofrey, Mad King, with the power he now has due to a feckless Congress who will not check him.

He sees every single thing as a pawn to be used in a power play and to him no prior US commitments or deals matter and can all be thrown out.

The cost all of America will pay for this for decades will be enormous as no other country will ever be able to sign a deal with America nor worried another Trump is following who will cancel every thing Venezuela style.

Canada should continue to tell trump to go fuck himself.

Trump is driving our biggest trading partners away. They have options. The guess that they will return after Trump is gone is that, a guess. Dozing Donald cannot stop pissing off our economic partners. Trump claims to be a great deal maker. He made none. If he can change them at whim, that is no deal. A deal requires sitting down and rewriting the provisions.

Trump has weakened America while strengthening China, who canada and Europe now see a the more reliable trade partner to cut a deal with and who is more likely to not just walk away from the deal after it is made

What we see with Trump now is exactly how he ran his business in NY where he never considered any contract be signed worry worth anything if the other group did not have the power to enforce it in a court. Whether he paid his debts was entirely based on that.

He scrapped NAFTA ignoring it was illegal to do so. He negotiated in during his first term the USMCA, calling it the best deal in the history of deals. And at the start of this term he immediately broke the law violating the USMCA while questioning what terrible prior leadership signed such bad deals.

Trump truly is a doorbell special kind of stupid.

Agreed he's a special kind of stupid. He also lacks the character Americans should expect of a national leader.

The majority of great leaders became so through adversity since adversity builds character. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and was always able to buy his way out of trouble. He never learned anything different which is why he had no problem buying and selling little girls since he sees everything as having a price tag on it.

Romans 5:3-5
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
