Server once again has reached EOL... So. I am working on ordering yet another server...

Have you done the math on having your own server with a hardware firewall and DIY-ing it in the long run?
I bet the problem is buying the name from whoever owns it now. A lot of things have happened that should not have.
GoDaddy, for instance.
The server is different than the URL. I do use a Cloud Server. Unfortunately I had one with some old software that reached EOL so I need to move the site to a new VPS Cloud server, I selected software that won't read EOL until 2036... so I should be set, and I should be able to just expand the disc space.
I have the server, now I just have to time when I make the move... It's going to be fun.

Ya know, some people from back in the day have their own domain and servers and email serving and all that.
It pretty much stopped around 2003 with GoDaddy buying up half the internet.
Not everybody does, I know about 3 people that do, one is a relative, but I know how that worked.
It worked like BlackRock buying up homes to jack prices up for everyone.

I did. I'm just not sure why your cloud host would make you redeploy rather than just expanding the volume?
Oh, and no. I don't know if I have enough time for that. Plus one server is a single point of failure. I prefer to have cloud service which spreads out over more than one machine making total collapse rare.

The software itself that ran the servers was EOL and could not be upgraded. So. I need a new environment with new software.

Got it, a small provider that didn't keep their side up to date..
I may switch over to AWS later... I almost did when I changed the forum software.

I don't know all the details but something about RB and Dutch were supposed to meet face to face. RB went or was on his way to the meeting place,...then I take it that RB posted in JPP that he WAS THERE so Dutch would know. Then Dutch got scared, chickened out and went to a police station instead and basically hid out in the waiting room.
